By
Craig Robinson

The "Archer" iconArcher is your physical DPS ranged class, enabling the player and Pawn to freely attack enemies, provide strong AOE, single-target sustain and burst damage, and modify their arrows to apply status effects and debilitations. More so, for a damage-dealing class, the Archer has lots of CC tools and makes a solid fit for a party. Here’s everything you need to know about the Archer in "Dragon" iconDragon’s Dogma 2, featuring skills, augments, builds, and more.

Here’s everything you need to know about Archer in Dragon’s Dogma 2, featuring skills, augments, and more.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Archer Overview

To summarize, the Archer is a long-range damage-dealing vocation, that has several AOE (Area of Effect), CC (crowd control), and pure damage attacks. You can play and build the character to take a mix of skills, or hone in on one specialty. For the most part, the class makes for an incredibly good ranged damage dealer, but you can focus on using a variety of arrow types, or being more close range and grappling and blasting arrows point blank.

To give you a better feel for the class, here are the pros and cons of the class.

Pros Cons
Strong damage dealer Resource-intensive for arrow types
Moderate Support tools Higher skill ceiling class with free aiming and vital game knowledge
Self-reliant Somewhat squishy if you play a closer-range grappling archer.
Excellent Boss Killer
Excellent at killing flying enemies

If you need advice on the types of builds you can expect, we have an Archer Class Guide, featuring the recommended skills we recommend for the classic long-range Archer playstyle.

Archer Skills in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Below is a list of all the Archer Skills in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that you’ll unlock as you progress through the Archer Vocation. Note that the skills will unlock at different times, depending on the required vocation. They cost Discipline points to acquire and some of the skills are named upgrade versions of basic skills unlocked early on. Feel free to mouse hover over the skill name for more info on what it does, and mobile users can tap once to see the DB hover interactions.

All Archer Core Skills in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Core Skills are a key part of Archers, as they grant passive bonuses or extra actions you can use while moving or with weapon attacks. For the Archer vocation, you have the following core skills.

Leaping Punt enables the Archer to knock foes off balance. The Archer can also launch themselves backwards to create space from the enemy. It’s a solid defensive skill, activated by running towards an enemy and pressing the assigned button depending on the controller setup and scheme.

Parting Shot allows the caster to send an arrow flying from their bow after using a Leaping Punt ability, or by doing an aerial attack. Handy little movement damage skill and combo move.

Swift Knock essentially improves arrow draw speed for steady shot and regular nock skills.

Puncture Dart does a heavy bow draw, enabling penetration shots on arrows, similar to certain skills. It will come at a cost to stamina cost and range, but it will deal increased damage.

All Archer Augments in Dragon’s Dogma 2

As with all vocations, each one has five Augments you will unlock gradually. Here are all five, and notes on how to best use them.

  1. "Ambuscade" iconAmbuscade
  2. "Endurance" iconEndurance
  3. "Radiance" iconRadiance
  4. "Lethality" iconLethality
  5. "Avidity" iconAvidity

Here is a closer look at the Augments for Archers in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and what to expect from them.

Ambuscade is an Augment that increases damage when you ambush enemies not in a combat stance. It’s handy for picking off targets and getting the first hit.

Endurance is an Augment that increases max Stamina.

Radiance is a role-play-friendly Augment that increases the strength and lowers your Lantern’s oil consumption.

Lethality is a powerful augment that increases the damage you deal to vitals and weakspots against enemies, which is perfect for an Archer.

Avidity is another role-play-friendly Augment that increases your climbing of terrain and foes. Climbing foes is important, as Archers can get tools to pierce enemies, which is very good for vital and piercing attacks. It’s not always needed, but certain Archer builds can use it.

Endurance is great for all classes as Stamina is king for skills and attacks, while Lethality helps reinforce the Archer as a niche in a party - hitting weakpoints.

This about summarizes the basics of what you need to know about the Archer in Dragon’s Dogma 2. You should hopefully have an idea of what the class does, what it succeeds at, and how to prepare one for any party, whether you make your Pawn or Arisen an Archer, or recruit Archers from time to time.
