Dragon's Dogma 2

Vernworth Vault Guide - How To Get In And Avoid The Guard

By
Echo Apsey

"Vernworth" iconVernworth Palace in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a grand building and it has a few secrets of its own. One of those is the palace vault.

Found deep within the palace, you can access the vault by heading into the main hall via the Guardhouse and then looking for the corridor on your left, before you reach the spiral staircases. Head down and to the right and you will find the vault.

Follow this path through the Guardhouse to easily find the vault.

However, to get in, you will need a Vault Key. And, to find it, you will need to go to the complete opposite side of Vernworth, practically.

Where to Find the Makeshift Vault Key

The "Makeshift Vault Key" iconMakeshift Vault Key is found in a small side room of the tower of the castle at the "Ancient Battleground" iconAncient Battleground, alongside the "Nation's Death Knell" iconNation’s Death Knell spell. The key is in a black and gold chest opposite it.

You can find it by climbing up to the top of the tower. The side of it has been destroyed, so you can get in via the broken wall next to the cliff.

(1 of 2) You can either access the Ancient Battleground from the south, or the east passing by the Sphinx location and the Mountain Shrine.

Once you have it, it’s time to head back to Vernworth Palace.

How to Get into Vernworth Vault in Dragon’s Dogma 2

To get into Vernworth Vault you will need to wait until the guard isn’t standing by it. They are almost always watching over the entrance and if you get close, you will automatically be teleported back up the staircase.

Therefore, the best way to get into the Vault is to use the "Archer" iconArcher or "Magick Archer" iconMagick Archer Vocations and kill the guard from afar with a bow. It should take around five-to-seven shots. However, you will want to do this at night. During the day there are far too many guards lurking about the palace. At night you shouldn’t get chased.

(1 of 2) The guard surprisingly won’t fight back if you continue to shoot it from afar.

If you do, simply restart from your last checkpoint or Inn rest, or let yourself die if you want. You will know if you have triggered the guards as some sinister music will start playing. Once you kill the guard, simply drop her body in the room, shut the doors by pushing them, and open the four chests inside.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Vernworth Vault Loot

Inside the vault you can find the following items:

The Gold is sat on the left side, behind some antiques covered up, whereas the rest of the items are in the chests around the room.

With that done, you can either leave the soldier dead or revive them with a "Wakestone" iconWakestone. Either way, you shouldn’t run into any issues and can head back to your storage to drop the items in.

That covers everything you need to know about how to get into the "Dragon" iconDragon’s Dogma 2 Vernworth Vault and the loot you will find inside. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the long-awaited sequel to a predecessor that gained a cult following for its quirky pawns and charming jank, not to mention the diverse combat options that came with access to several unique vocations. All of that and more is expanded upon with DD2, while some of the mechanics have been simplified to make them more accessible, but still retaining that unapologetic focus on rewarding exploration at the heart of its gameplay. You are the Arisen, fated to confront the Dragon’s Dogma, and the initial path you take is a familiar one to those who played the original, but you’ll soon find that there’s more to this story than meets the eye. In this guide, we cover the following:
