By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page offers a guide on how to complete the Normal Gym Test in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet (SV). This is one of the harder gym challenges and during this gym test, you’ll be required to order the secret menu item from the Treasury Eatery.

Gym Test: Order the secret menu item!

All Normal Gym Test Secret Menu Item Answers

To find out what the secret dish is, you’ll need to eavesdrop on people’s conversation and win Pokémon battles around Medali. You can try to guess the secret dish at any time, but there are many combinations and it’ll be quite tough! This gym test is quite the puzzle so you’ll want to read on to find out exactly what you’ll want to order to pass the challenge! Skip to the end of this page if you want to bypass all the Pokémon battles and just input the order without doing any of the work!

Office Worker at the Treasury Eatery Bar

The first clue you’ll be able to get is from the Office Worker sitting at the end of the bar. When you talk to him, he’ll tell you that “A nice squeeze of lemon gives any dish a refreshing kick”.

The Office Worker suggests the lemon!

Pokémon Battle: Adara the Student

Adara the Student can be found in the plaza outside the Treasury Eatery. Look out for the kid with the gold-outlined speech bubble saying “I’m gonna beat the Medali Gym”.

Adara the Student is found outside the Treasury Eatery.

In order to get her clue, you’ll need to battle her. Adara brings out the following Pokémon:

Pokémon Level Type
"Gumshoos" IconGumshoos 34 Normal Normal
"Greedent" IconGreedent 34 Normal Normal

Both Pokémon are normal-types so you shouldn’t have too much of an issue with one-shotting them if you bring out either a Fighting Fighting type or just a strong Pokémon in general.

After beating Adara’s Pokémon, she will tell you to look for something that’s “the odd one out at one of the ice cream stands”. Head over to the pink, white and blue ice-cream stand nearby and scroll down the menu. You’ll see that in addition to serving ice-cream, they also have Grilled "Rice" iconRice Balls - weird!

(1 of 3) Once you’ve beaten her in a Pokémon battle, she’ll tell you to look at one of the ice-cream stands for a clue.

Pokémon Battle: Santiago the Student

Santiago the Student can be found down one of the streets filled with restaurants. Look out for the guy with the gold-outlined speech bubble saying “Anyone here taking the Gym Test?!”.

Santiago the Student is found down one of the streets near the other restaurants.

In order to get his clue, you’ll need to battle him. Santiago brings out the following Pokémon:

Pokémon Level Type
"Dunsparce" IconDunsparce 34 Normal Normal

You shouldn’t have any issues with "Dunsparce" IconDunsparce. It’s main threats are its Hyper Drill and Yawn, with the later making it harder to get big damage in if your Pokémon is sleeping.

Once you’ve defeated the Dunsparce, your clue will be to “listen really closely to the blue bird Pokémon. The blue bird Pokémon in question can be found down the road, sitting on top of an NPCs head. You can’t interact with the bird Pokémon but you’ll have to sit there and wait for it to say “Meedyum! Meedyum!” (aka Medium). So you’ll want to pick the Medium-serving option.

(1 of 2) After defeating Santiago, he’ll tell you to listen to the blue bird.

Pokémon Battle: Gisela the Student

Gisela the Student is found slightly northwest of Medali (West) Pokémon Center, near the semi-circle of steps.

In order to get her clue, you’ll need to battle her. Gisela brings out the following Pokémon:

Pokémon Level Type
"Ursaring" IconUrsaring 34 Normal Normal

"Ursaring" IconUrsaring is quite tanky and also knows Slash, which is quite a strong normal-type attack move. If you think your Pokémon need a bit of a rest after the last two Pokémon battles, then head over to the Pokémon Center nearby! After defeating Ursaring, you’ll definitely want to heal up before the Gym fight so you’re all ready to go!

Once you’ve defeated Gisela, she’ll tell you to look for a dark spot surrounded by stairs. Head down the steps to the east and interact with the black archway to find a note saying “"Fire Blast" iconFire Blast”.
