Ditto has long been a staple in the Pokemon series. Ditto has the ability to be used for breeding thanks to its Transform ability. This allows you to pair it with any Pokemon to produce eggs, and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are no different.
Finding Ditto is a bit more difficult in these games as it hides itself by transforming into other Pokemon that roam the area where it spawns. Luckily, Ditto isn’t great at blending in, so there are some easy ways to spot it in the wild. Below we go over where to find Ditto and how to tell it apart from the other Pokemon in the area.
Where Does Ditto Spawn?¶
Ditto spawns in two areas in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.
In both of these areas, Ditto will take the form of another Pokemon.
How to Tell Ditto Apart From Other Pokemon in The Area¶
There are two main ways to tell if there is a Ditto hiding amongst the herd of Pokemon. The first is by locking on to Pokemon in the area by pressing ZL. This will show the name of the Pokemon as Ditto if you have already countered it before. If you haven’t, the name will show up as ???.
The second method is by how the Pokemon acts. As it turns out, Ditto isn’t great at mimicking the behaviors of other Pokemon. If it’s a Persian, for example, then it will purr when you get close to it. If you are in an area where Ditto spawns and there is a Pokemon acting strangely then chances are high that it’s actually a Ditto in disguise.
