How do trainers catch The Loyal Three, Specifically Munkidori, in The "Teal Mask" iconTeal Mask? There must be an obvious way to do this, with the imposter legendaries seemingly disappearing after defeating their Titanic forms. There’s always something more to the story, and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The Teal Mask DLC is no different.

Preparing To Catch Munkidori and The Loyal Three

Unlike a certain other Pokémon practically putting itself in a Pokéball, Munkidori and the rest of The Loyal Three give trainers a tough time, but we’ve worked out a solid strategy to ensure they become partner Pokémon as soon as possible. Here’s what trainers need and why:

Item Why It’s Needed
"Dusk Ball" iconDusk Balls Higher catch rates for night time encounters.
"Quick Ball" iconQuick Balls It’s always worth throwing one at the start of every encounter on the off-chance it captures a Pokémon successfully.
"Timer Ball" iconTimer Balls Had the battle been going on for far too long? "Timer Ball" iconTimer Balls work better the longer an encounter lasts.
"Ultra Ball" iconUltra Balls A solid last resort when trainers have run out of "Dusk Ball" iconDusk Balls and "Timer Ball" iconTimer Balls.
"Max Revive" iconMax Revives Always handy for those powerful critical hits.

How To Find Munkidori

The Loyal Three’s locations are the same as their Titanic battles. In Munkidori’s case, trainers can it near the water’s edge at Wisteria Pond. See the screenshots below for a better idea of its location:

(1 of 3) The Loyal Three can be found in the same spots as their Titanic battles, although they’ll be a bit harder to spot.

Which Pokémon To Use

Once these items have been collected (hold 30 to 50 of each to be on the safe side), it’s time to get a solid team together. The Loyal Three are all around level 70, so it’s best practice to have a level 100 team. At the time of The Teal Mask DLC release, trainers can easily get hold of "Mew" IconMew and "Mewtwo" IconMewtwo thanks to the formers Mystery Gift Code and the latters unique Mew team strategy.

This is a simple and easy way to get a couple of strong Pokémon with a good move spread to catch The Loyal Three without too much of a headache. Here are a couple of screenshots so players know what movesets to use. Mewtwo is running straight from the event, whilst Mew has to have "False Swipe" iconFalse Swipe and "Thunder Wave" iconThunder Wave:

(1 of 2) This is the same Mew used for the Mewtwo Tera Raid Strategy. Any level 100 Mew will do, providing it has False Swipe and Thunder Wave

This is the same Mew used for the Mewtwo Tera Raid Strategy. Any level 100 Mew will do, providing it has False Swipe and Thunder Wave (left), Mewtwo the Unrivaled is a powerhouse and a good backup to wipe a lot of HP before switching in with Mews False Swipe. (right)

Have Mewtwo in the party, turn off auto-saving, and then save the game. This means trainers can do a soft reset and try again if things don’t work out. Munkidori badly poisons opposing Pokémon when a physical move lands, so it’s best to have Mewtwo deal a good blow, then move Mew to False Swipe down to 1 HP and follow up with "Thunder" iconThunder Wave to increase capture chances.

From here, trainers must keep their whole team from fainting whilst throwing "Dusk Ball" iconDusk Balls, "Timer Ball" iconTimer Balls and "Ultra Ball" iconUltra Balls to capture Munkidori. If the encounter is too long, just soft reset and try again; sit back and enjoy the tension.

(1 of 4) Mew slowly but surely whittles HP down with False Swipe, ensuring it doesn’t knock out Munkidori.

And there we have it, a partner, Munkidori, to adventure with. Why not find out how to catch Okidogi and Fezandipiti next?
