This is a guide for defeating Dondozo, the False Dragon Titan in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. We have details on where to find it, what Pokémon we recommend you bring along and ultimately, how to defeat it.

Dondozo is a level 55 Water Type.

Where to Find The Dondozo, the False Dragon Titan

Dondozo, the False Dragon Titan can be found on a small island on the right side of Casseroya Lake. However, before you can reach it you’ll need to unlock the Travel Ability “"Surf" iconSurf” which is obtained by defeating Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan which is a level 19 Flying Type. The easiest way to reach it is by traveling to the Glaseado Mount Pokémon Center and swimming west.

Dondozo False Dragon Titan Level

Dondozo is a level 55 Water Type Monster. Ideally, you should attempt the Dondozo, the False Dragon Titan when you are at least Level 56 to help overpower the boss battle.

Dondozo False Dragon Titan Weakness & Strategy

Dondozo is a Water Water type, so you’ll ideally want to bring along a at least one of Electric Electric or Grass Grass. It doesn’t matter which of the two types you choose as Dondozo is weak to all three by the same amount. If you haven’t got you hands on any Electrci Electric or Grass Grass yet, then you should consider these options which you would’ve seen whilst adventuring towards the False Dragon Titan:

Pokemon Type
"Breloom" IconBreloom Grass Grass
Meowscarada Grass Grass
Scovillain Grass Grass
"Luxray" IconLuxray Electric Electric
"Ampharos" IconAmpharos Electric Electric
"Raichu" IconRaichu Electric Electric

Best Strategies for Dondozo, the False Dragon Titan

You’ll end up fighting Dondozo, the False Dragon Titan twice, although there’s a brief pause in-between the two fights, etc. If you’ve selected any of the Pokémon mentioned above, then some of these attacks will be useful for the upcoming battle. "Shroomish" IconShroomish Leech Seed, Scovillain Razor Leaf, "Luxray" IconLuxray "Volt Switch" iconVolt Switch, "Mareep" IconMareep "Thunder" iconThunder Shock.

(1 of 4) Donzo can use Order Up

For attacks Dondozo can use "Body Slam" iconBody Slam which can deal decent damage to your Pokémon depending on your level and type, so throughout the battle you’ll want to make sure you keep topping up your health with "Potion" iconPotions or "Super Potion" iconSuper Potions to avoid it being defeated. "Water Pulse" iconWater Pulse which is another attack that mainly deals damage but it has chance to inflict Confusion which means your Pokémon may attack itself for 2-5 turns.

Finally, for Phase 1 Dondozo can use the ability Oblivious which will prevent it from being affected by Intimidate or "Taunt" iconTaunt. Additionally, you’ll want to avoid using Pokémon Types its strong against which are Ice IceFire Water Water and Steel Steel

Round 2

Once you’ve taken Dondozo health down into the red it’ll flee and you’ll need to find it in order to complete the battle. Simply, jump back into the water on your Legendary Mount and swim west until you reach a shallow area near another island. Here Dondozo will appear and phase 2 will begin! However, this time around the Dondozo has consumed a Herba Mystica which will buff it up, but dont worry too much as Arven will be fighting alongside you this time with "Greedent" IconGreedent who is a Normal Normal type. Greedent will primarily use "Take Down" iconTake Down.

During the second battle against Dondozo it’ll have two additional attacks which is Order Up and Aqua Tail. These two attacks mainly deal damage, so make sure to heal up afterwards. Alongside these two attacks the remaining attacks you saw in the first battle will just deal more damage this time around due to the buff of the herb.

After the Battle

Upon defeating Dondozo you’ll need to face and defeat Tatsugiri in order to complete the Dragon Titan which will then give you access to Climb which is a new travel ability. This can be used by pressing Joy-Con-ButtonPlus button on the joycons or pro controller to hop onto Miraidon or Koraidon, then press in the Joy-Con-ButtonB button when you’re facing a wall to jump onto it.

You can now climb on your Legendary Pokemon!
