The "Gengar" IconGengar Tera Raid is one of two supporting raids for the Cinderance Tera Raid event. It comes in 4 and 5-Star flavors and in various sinister Tera Types and moves. The Gengar Tera Raid is available from from midnight on the 30th of December to the end of 1st of January 2023, and then again from midnight on the 13th of January to the end of 15th of January 2023. Let’s get into the Gengar Tera Raid movesets, stats and drops.

Gengar Tera Raid Event

Gengar is a well known Ghost Ghost-type powerhouse that can utilize Dark Dark, Psychic Psychic, Ghost Ghost, Poison Poison and Electric Electric movesets, making it an extremely viable choice for competitive play. Seeing as 4-Star and 5-Star raids come with the respective number of perfect Individual Values, it’s not going to take a lot to get a Gengar Tera Raid Pokémon up to speed for online and competitive battling.

When using its standard typing, Gengar is strong against the following types:

Type - -
BugBug FairyFairy FightingFighting
GrassGrass NormalNormal PoisonPoison

And weak against:

Type -
DarkDark GhostGhost
GroundGround PsychicPsychic

The kicker with the Gengar Tera Raid event is that its Tera-Typing is random, so the Gengar gets to keep it’s type-advantages whilst hiding behind a new Tera-Type. Unless it’s Ghost Ghost that is, in that case the above applies. The best strategy here is having a good spread of Pokémon prepared to deal with all Tera Typings, which sounds ridiculous, but it’s just the standard Pokémon team strategy.

The Gengar Tera Raid event will be throwing Ghost Ghost, Psychic Psychic, Poison Poison and Dark Dark attacks at opponents, so having a solid Ground Ground Type Pokémon such a "Tyranitar" IconTyranitar that can learn other move-types is going to be a safe bet. The Tyranitar Tera Raid event should give trainers a solid head start here, but failing that it can be found only in Pokémon Scarlet but not in the wild.

Players will have to grab the pre-evolution of Tyranitar, "Pupitar" IconPupitar, inside Alfornada Cave in South Province (Area Six). It’s base evolution, "Larvitar" IconLarvitar, can also be found in the following locations:
