Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

What are School Classes for?

By
Ben Chard

In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, Naranja (Scarlet) and Uva (Violet) Academy play a large role in the region of Paldea. As part of being a student, you can take classes and this page will detail what the purpose of this is.

You can take classes in several subjects at the school.

When Can you Begin Taking Classes?

The start of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet begins with you making your way to Mesagoza to enroll at the Academy there alongside Nemona. Once you reach the Academy, you’ll go through some mandatory story scenes and soon after, the Treasure Hunt will begin and you’ll officially start the three story paths, Victory Road, Path of Legends, and Starfall Street.

At this point, most players will set off to explore Paldea and everything it has to offer, completely forgetting about the school. However, you can now undertake several classes, all of which will lead to a midterm test before you can take the next set of classes, all of which culminate in a final test.

As you progress through the story paths of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, you’ll unlock more subjects you can take classes in, which means new teachers to befriend.

What do you get for Classes?

You won’t get to see the main benefits of classes until post-game, but until then, they’re useful beyond just the background lore of the Paldea region.

Every subject has its own teacher and they all have a bond that you can raise every time you attend one of their classes. The questions you get in regular classes seem to have no real benefit on the increase of your bond with them, but the midterms do have a huge impact if you answer the questions correctly.

Befriending Rewards

As you finish your final tests and befriend your teachers, there will be another event with each of the teachers where you’ll obtain a reward. You’ll find the list of rewards below:
