You, the Player

You’re a new student at the academy at Paldea, with sky-high aspirations. The outfit you wear depends on which version you’re playing: Scarlet or Violet.

Arven is a senior student at the academy. He’s good at cooking and is researching healthy recipes to make Pokémon feel better. What a nice guy! That said, he’s no good at Pokémon battles, so you may need to lend a hand.

He appears in the Path of Legends story.

Brassius

Brassius is a Gym Leader from the town of Artazon, where flowers and art bloom. Unsurprisingly, he commands Grass-type Pokémon and is nicknamed the Verdant Virtuoso.

He’s one of your opponents in the Victory Road story.

Clavell is the director of the academy. He can appear strict, but it’s only out of the kindness of his heart. Seems to be friends with Professor Sada and Professor Turo.

Geeta

Geeta is the chairwoman of Paldea’s Pokémon League, which manages the various Pokémon Gyms. Among the region’s Champions, she’s renowned as the strongest of them all.

You’ll encounter Geeta during the Victory Road story.

Grusha

Grusha is the Gym Leader of the Glaseado Gym. He was once a professional snowboarder. As you might expect, he favors Ice-type Pokémon. Usually cool-headed, but when the battle gets heated, his normally hidden emotions may bubble to the surface.

He’s one of your opponents in the Victory Road story.

Iono

Iono is a Gym Leader from the city of Levincia. She’s an expert of Electric-type Pokémon and also a popular web celebrity, nicknamed the Supercharged Streamer. Try not to lose against her, because your battle may be live-streamed across Paldea!

She’s one of your opponents in the Victory Road story.

Jacq

Jacq is your homeroom teacher, who teaches biology. He knows a lot about Pokémon biology and invented the Pokédex app for the "Rotom" IconRotom Phone. Can be air-headed at times, often losing himself in his research.

Mela

Mela is the leader of Team Star’s Fire crew, the Schedar Squad. She’s an all-rounder who can fix any problems, although her methods can be heavy-handed. Gives off a rough and gruff impression, but her dedication has earned her the trust of her crew.

You’ll encounter Mela during the Starfall Street story.

Nemona

Nemona is your Pokémon battle-loving friend. She’s cheerful and energetic and, since she’s an experienced Pokémon trainer, she frequently offers useful advice. Despite her skill in battling, she’s a bit careless when it comes to throwing Poké Balls.

Penny

Penny is in the same grade as you. She’s shy and rarely attends the academy for some reason. Often seen sporting a fluffy "Eevee" IconEevee bag on her back. Where can we get one of those?

Professors Sada and Turo

These Professors are studying the lore of the Paldea region. In Pokémon Scarlet, you’ll meet Professor Sada. Meanwhile, you’ll be acquainted with Professor Turo instead in Pokémon Violet.
