Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

What is the Best Story Order in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

By

& Christian Wait

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is a true open world Pokémon experience and as such, you are free to tackle the three main storylines in any order. This page will guide you on the best route through the game, based off levels.

You are free to tackle the game’s story in any order.

Where to go First?

After you start your adventure, you’ll soon be directed to head to the academy at Mesagoza, the capital city of the Paldea region. You’ll find yourself in South Province (Area 1), and you’re free to explore this area as you head north to Mesagoza.

Once you reach the academy follow the mandatory story events and soon, the Treasure Hunt will begin. At this time, you’ll begin Victory Road, Starfall Street, and Path of Legends, the three main storyline paths for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. This is where you’re truly left to your own devices as you explore this vast region however you see fit.

Victory Road, Starfall Street, or Path of Legends?

As mentioned above, you’ll begin all three of these storylines once you leave the Mesagoza academy for the first time. Each of these will focus on a different theme with different unlocks so it’s important to understand what each one is.

Victory Road is your typical Gym adventure you’ll find in every other Pokémon. As such, you’ll need to travel around Paldea, completing the Gym Tests at the various settlements before defeating each Gym Leader. You’ll want to mix these in if you’re going for a random progression as each badge will allow higher level Pokémon to obey you.

Starfall Street involves heading to certain encampments scattered around Paldea to take on a squad of Team Star before battling their leader. You’ll take part in raid battles here by having up to three Pokémon wander and auto-battle. Once you take out the required number of Pokémon, you’ll have a showdown with the leader. Taking down a Squad will often reward you with lots of TM materials.

Path of Legends is the final storyline and it focuses on battling the Titans, all of which have a different type. As there’s only five of these, their level ranges tend to jump quite a bit, but they’re well worth you seeking out as defeating each one will unlock a new Travel ability such as the ability to Dash and Glide!

(1 of 3) You will take on the Gym Leaders in Victory Road

The Best Gym Route

As mentioned above, you’re free to tackle the game in any order you like, but there is a natural Level progression for each of the storylines and as such, you can follow this table for the most natural progression through Paldea. |

Once you’ve completed everything here, you will get the credits roll which will round off the adventure for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and begin the post-game.

If you wish to know a bit more detail about specific routes (for example, if you wanted to focus on one at a time), then head to the following pages for more information:

The Teal Mask DLC

(1 of 3) The Four Signposts are a kind of pilgrimage to remember the “Sacrifice” of The Loyal Three.

Pokémon scale to a trainers level in The Teal Mask DLC, so this can be attempted whenever trainers like. We would recommend treating it as post-game content and tackling it after completing the main story in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to get the most out of it. From higher level Pokémon to have a better chance at completing the Kitikami Pokédex, it’s kind of a no brainer. For example, trainers will need atleast 150 Pokémon caught in the Kitakami Pokédex to attempt catching Bloodmoon Ursaluna. Not to mention have a level 7- plus Pokémon to battle it, The Loyal three and Ogerpon. Here is the best story order for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: The "Teal Mask" iconTeal Mask DLC:
