Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Best Flutter Mane Tera Raid Build

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

A Flutter Mane Raid build will come in handy for tackling Dragon-Types, especially in high-level Tera Raids. There are certain Pokémon that are perfect for Tera Raids and this Flutter Mane Raid build is one of them.

Flutter Mane.

If you’ve been delving into the world of Tera Raids and have reached the point of taking on the challenging 5 and 6 Star Tera Raids, you may realize just how much more strategy comes into play. More importantly, you may notice that clearing these Offline with the AI is incredibly challenging, to the point of almost impossible. Even Online can be challenging if your teammates choose Pokémon that are not ideal.

This Flutter Mane Raid build, tested by the excellent Pokémon community, is especially useful for most Tera Raids.

How to Get A Flutter Mane Raid Build

Flutter Mane can only be found in a couple of different locations in the Area Zero Crater. The easiest place to find him will be at the bottom of the cave area, accessed from the cave entrance by Research Station No. 3. Follow the cave’s linear path all the way to the ground area of the cave to find several Flutter Mane dotted around in the shallow waters ripe for a Flutter Mane Raid build. It can also be found in the secret cave where Roaring Moon Paradox Pokémon are also found - head over to our guide on Roaring Moon for a walkthrough of where to find the cave. It’ll be around Lv 57 so make sure to battle with Pokémon of an appropriate level if you want to catch it. Sometimes they can be a bit stubborn so we like to use "Timer Ball" iconTimer Balls to make extra sure we catch them, although it’s worth using a "Quick Ball" iconQuick Ball at the start of the encounter for an instant catch too.

You can find some Fluttermane in the secret cave where Roaring Moons live.

Flutter Mane Raid Build

The purpose of our Flutter Mane Raid build is a more general-purpose build to be used in 5 and 6 Star Tera Raids but is also very useful for other event Tera Raids that are available from time-to-time. Your Flutter Mane’s main move will be Moonblast.

You’ll want your Flutter Mane Raid build to have the following:

Tera Nature EV Focus Ability Moveset Held Item
Fairy Modest Special Attack and Special Defense Protosynthesis Moonblast, "Shadow Ball" iconShadow Ball, "Calm Mind" iconCalm Mind, "Fake Tears" iconFake Tears "Booster Energy" iconBooster Energy or "Covert Cloak" iconCovert Cloak.

Protosynthesis and "Booster Energy" iconBooster Energy are a strong combo because the ability reads: if Harsh Sunlight is active or if it’s holding Booster Energy, the Pokemon’s highest stat is boosted by 30% if the stat is Attack, Defense, Special Attack, or Special Defense or 50% if the stat is Speed.

"Covert Cloak" iconCovert Cloak can be a good alternative if you need to avoid your Pokémon being confused, though for the most part, Booster Energy is a stronger choice. You can obtain the first “Booster Energy” for free by advancing The Way Home, the final storyline in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. You will get it from the Professor as you proceed towards the final battle and it cannot be missed. Additional “Booster Energy” Energy items will need to be sourced from the Paradox Pokémon found in Area Zero. There is a 5% chance that they will spawn with one held, so you’ll need to catch them to get it.

The Modest nature is the most ideal nature because it increases Special Attack, and your focus for the Flutter Mane Raid build is to max out your SPA for Moonblast.

Moonblast is a special Fairy move that inflicts a ton of damage and has a 30% chance of lowering the target’s Special Attack. It has an accuracy of 100% and has a base power of 90. Flutter Mane learns this move at level 84.

"Fake Tears" iconFake Tears is a great move to pair with Moonblast because it harshly lowers the target’s Special Defense by two stages, allowing your Flutter Mane Raid build to do a ton more damage! You can find TM Fake Tears just southeast of Cortondo (map marker). To make the TM, you’ll need 400 LP to craft, x3 "Bonsly Tears" iconBonsly Tears and x3 "Teddiursa Claw" iconTeddiursa Claws.

"Shadow Ball" iconShadow Ball is a nice move to have in your moveset, because it is a Ghost-type move that inflicts a lot of damage and also has a 20% chance of lowering the target’s Special Defense. This move can be switched out for something more tailored to specific battles if needs be! Flutter Mane learns this move at Level 42. If you’re finding that you’re struggling to stay alive for example, using "Draining Kiss" iconDraining Kiss instead can help with sustain.

And finally, "Calm Mind" iconCalm Mind is a great psychic move to pair with Moonblast because it raises the user’s Special Attack and Special Defense by one stage each. TM Calm Mind can be found near a small pool southwest of Artazon (map marker). To craft it, you’ll need 3,000 LP, x3 "Stantler Hair" iconStantler Hair and x3 "Indeedee Fur" iconIndeedee Fur.

Flutter Mane Raid Build Strategy

In order to get the most out of your fancy new Flutter Mane Raid build, you’ll need to make sure you use Calm Mind to boost your Special Attack first and Fake Tears to lower your target’s Special Defense.

It’s all about setting up your Flutter Mane for success! Once you’ve used Calm Mind to boost your Pokémon’s SPA a few stages, and debuffed your opponent using Fake Tears, it’ll be time to terastallize and unleash the Moonblasts!
