Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Best Route for Path of Legends Story

By
Ben Chard

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is a true open world Pokémon experience and as such, you are free to tackle the three main storylines in any order. This page will guide you on the best route through the Path of Legends storyline.

Klawf is the first Titan you’ll face in the Path of Legends storyline.

Best Way to Progress the Path of Legends Story

If you’ve decided to focus only on Path of Legends to begin with, or you want to see what Level the next Titan is, you can refer to the table below:

Order Titan Level Type Travel Ability
1 Klawf 16 Rock Rock Dash
2 Bombirdier 19 Flying Flying Surf
3 Orthworm 28 Steel Steel Jump
4 Great Tusk (Scarlet) / Iron Treads (Violet) 44 Ground Ground Glide
5 Dondozo, Tatsugiri 55 Water Water, Dragon Dragon Climb
6 Final Battle 62 Varies

Out of all of these, Surf and Climb are by far the most useful, as they’ll allow you to reach places that were otherwise unavailable. You can find a few tips about each Titan below:

Klawf

As the first Titan you encounter, Klawf shouldn’t pose too much of a threat. As a Rock-type, Klawf has weaknesses to Fighting Fighting, Grass Grass, Ground Ground, Water Water, and Steel Steel with both Water and Grass offering a 4x increase in damage. That’s a lot of weaknesses, so it should be simple to come up with a team for it.

For an in-depth strategy on how to defeat Klawf, head on over to our Walkthrough here.

Bombirdier

Bombirdier is close in Level to Klawf, so you can almost do both of these back-to-back. As a Flying-type Pokémon, it has weaknesses to Electric Electric, Ice Ice, and Rock Rock and there’s a few useful Electric-type Pokémon available at this early stage such as "Pikachu" IconPikachu.

For an in-depth strategy on how to defeat Bombirdier, head on over to our Walkthrough here.

Orthworm

Just under a 10 Level jump to the next Titan, Orthworm so you may wish to do some of the other storylines in between. As a Steel-type, it has weaknesses to Fire Fire, Fighting Fighting, and Ground Ground so if you went with the Fire Starter, you should be able to make short work of this overgrown worm.

For an in-depth strategy on how to defeat Orthworm, head on over to our Walkthrough here.

Great Tusk (Scarlet) / Iron Treads (Violet)

As you can see, you’ll be facing a different Titan in this battle based on what version you have. This Titan battle is against a Ground-type and as such, their weaknesses are Ice Ice, Grass Grass, and Water Water so as long as you don’t have the Fire Starter, your Starter should be incredibly useful for this encounter.

For an in-depth strategy on how to defeat Great Tusk, head on over to our Walkthrough here.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for how to defeat Iron Treads, head on over to our [Walkthrough] here.

Dondozo, Tatsugiri

The Final Titan is a bit of an odd one, because you will actually fight two Titans here. You’ll begin by fighting Dondozo twice (with Arven joining for the second battle), which is a Water-type. After the second battle, the real battle will begin against Tatsugiri which is a Dragon-type. As a Dragon-type, its weaknesses are Dragon Dragon, Fairy Fairy, and Ice Ice so it may be a bit trickier finding a team to take it on. Thankfully, there are a lot of Ice-type Pokémon found to the northeast of Paldea.

For an in-depth strategy on how to defeat Tatsugiri, head on over to our Walkthrough here.

Final Battle

Once you take out all of the Titans, there will be one final battle that will finish this storyline. We don’t want to spoil this here for you though, if you’re looking for an in-depth strategy on how to win the final battle, head on over to our [Walkthrough] here.

Path of Legends Rewards

The Path of Legends storyline is focused on tracking down Titan Pokémon throughout Paldea. These will be a two-phase boss battle with Arven joining for the second part, this will give you an idea of the Level of the Titan Pokémon which is otherwise hidden.

For completing each one, you’ll obtain a new travel ability which will give you access to parts of Paldea you never had before, like the sea. This is where you can sequence break a bit, as it is possible to defeat the higher-level Titans with moves that Poison for example.
