"Delibird" IconDelibird is in the spotlight and is bringing its sack of presents to trainers worldwide this Christmas, thanks to the Delibird Tera Raid Event. But what are the best Pokémon to pit against this festive Lechonky present hoarder? Kicking off on Friday December 23, 2022 at 12 a.m. UTC and last until 23:59 UTC on Christmas Day 2022, Delibird is the latest 5-Star Tera Raid event that also represents a good chance to farm random Tera Shards. These come in useful for changing A Pokémons Tera-type by taking them to the Sushi Chef over at the Treasure Eatery in Madali.

Best Delibird Tera Raid Builds

Delibirds Tera-Types will unfortunately be random during this event, which means it could very well catch trainers off guard with their typing weaknesses and weaknesses. However there’s still quite a big chance it will have a Rock or Flying Tera typing, which is how we’ve structured our builds by focusing on Ice and Flying weaknesses with Rock and Electric moves specifically.

With the best chances at hitting the Delibird Tera Raid hard, we’ve got three awesome Delibird Tera Raid Builds right here and in no particular order. We’ve tried to spread strategy out to make sure players have a back up during gameplay, so here’s our reccomendations:

Tyranitar Tera Raid Build

Sporting Rock/Dark typings, rocking up to the Delibird Tera Raid with a Rock Tera type "Tyranitar" IconTyranitar is a solid option. Delibird isn’t going to be using any Bug, Fairy or Fighting-type moves, and if it did, Tyranitars Rock-typing would cancel out the first two.

Tera Nature EV Focus Ability Moveset Held Item
Rock Brave Attack / Defense / Special Defense Sand Stream Focus Energy / "Iron Defense" iconIron Defense / Ancient Power / "Stone Edge" iconStone Edge "Smooth Rock" iconSmooth Rock

Delibird is very weak to Rock-type attacks, so its a given that Tyranitars Tera Type would match its standard typing. Its Brave ability increases its Attack stat, whilst EVs should be focused on Attack, Defense and Special Defense.

Sand Stream creates a sand storm for five turns, which also increases Rock types Special Defense whilst dealing a small amount of damage each turn. Combining this ability with the "Smooth Rock" iconSmooth Rock held item increases Sand Streams turn count to seven, making the most of its effects.

Focus Energy raises Tyranitar’s critical hit chance, which should be used alongside Iron Defense. This will ensure Tyranitar is in a good position to deal heavy damage whilst taking it on turn three of the Delibird Tera Raid.

Ancient Power has been included as it has a chance to boost all of Tyranitars stats at once, although it’s not too dependable. Finally, "Stone Edge" iconStone Edge can deal high damage to end the Tera Raid sooner rather than later.

Iron Thorns Tera Raid Build

The Pokémon Violet-exclusive Paradox Form of Tyranitar is a great build choice for the Delibird Teras Raid Event. It’s Rock/Electric typing hits hard against Delibirds Ice and Flying standard typing, which it will likely be seen sporting. It’s also got a couple of different strategies to use too.

Tera Nature EV Focus Ability Moveset Held Item
Rock / Electric Adamant Attack / Sp. Defense Quark Drive "Thunder Fang" iconThunder Fang or "Tera Blast" iconTera Blast / "Sandstorm" iconSandstorm / "Stone Edge" iconStone Edge / "Electric Terrain" iconElectric Terrain "Smooth Rock" iconSmooth Rock / "Booster Energy" iconBooster Energy

There are two strategies here, so we’re going to go with the most effective Rock-type one first. With the obvious Tera-typing in place, "Iron" iconIron Thorns Adamant Nature will increase its attack stat. Quark Drive will increase its highest stat by 30%, which again should be Attack when "Electric Terrain" iconElectric Terrain is used.

Smooth Rock will allow "Sandstorm" iconSandstorm to run to seven turns instead of five, raising Iron Thorns Special Defense whilst dealing a small amount of damage per turn. Stone Edge will be the heavy-hitting attack with this build, with "Tera Blast" iconTera Blast serving as another high-impact attack when Terastilised.

Going for the Electric route is less effective, but using that Tera-type alongside Electric Terrain will power up Electric-type moves and prevent sleep. "Thunder Fang" iconThunder Fang isn’t the most powerful attack, but the electric terrain power boost and the chance of Paralysis/Flinching make it worthwhile.

Once again, trainers should take advantage of the Sandstorm / Smooth Rock combination to rack up turn-by-turn damage and a rise in Special Defense. However, the Special defense boost won’t apply once Iron Thorns Terastilises into an Electic-type.

Garganacl Tera Raid Build

The Minecraft rock final evolution is a real blockbuster for a Delibird Tera Build. It has a brilliant standard hidden ability that will come in handy for status-affecting Teras Raid battle situations. This is primarily a Rock-type build, the safest build for the Delibird Tera Raid Event.

Tera Nature EV Focus Ability Moveset Held Item
Rock Adamant Attack / Sp. Defense Purifying Salt "Tera Blast" iconTera Blast / "Sandstorm" iconSandstorm / "Stone Edge" iconStone Edge / "Mud Shot" iconMud Shot "Smooth Rock" iconSmooth Rock

As we’ve mentioned, we’re going to take advantage of that Rock-Weakness with Delibird. Although its Tera Type will be random, Ice-Type is still going to be a safe bet, so we’re going to roll with it. Its Adamant nature will raise its attack stat, although it will lower its Special Attack stat. Don’t worry about this as we won’t need a high Special Attack stat anyway.

Naturally, we’ll be focusing on Attack and Special Defense EVs, just to pack that extra punch and cover bases, with Stone Edge providing the brick-breaking punch against Delibird. This will be supported by the combination of the held item Smooth Rock and Sandstorm to make the attack last seven turns, deal a little extra damage every turn, and raise Special Defense.
