Dragon's Dogma 2

How To Kill A Golem

By
Echo Apsey

One of the more common large enemies in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the Golem. These rocky foes are a big roadblock initially as their body is almost impenetrable by bladed weapons. However, there are some key tips you can incorporate into your playstyle when you fight them that will ensure you are able to kill a Golem in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to kill a Golem in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Some key tips to kill a Golem in Dragon’s Dogma 2 include:

  • Use magick
  • Fight it in an enclosed space and use ricochet arrows (Magick Archer class) and items
  • Utilize your Pawn’s attacks
  • Target the Golem’s weak spots by climbing on it

The most basic of things you need to know when taking on a Golem is that your regular sword hits, attacks, and arrows won’t do any damage due to the hard outer shell the enemy possesses. Therefore, you need to come up with more creative ways to knock chunks off a Golem’s health: mainly using Magick.

Your basic attacks won’t do any damage to the Golem.

One of the best ways to do this is to combine ricochet arrows with small enclosed environments like buildings and caves. The ricocheted arrows will reflect off the walls and ceilings and even the Golem itself to hit the weak spots on its body rapidly, shaving entire chunks off the health bar. While you are still dependent on hitting the weak spots, rolling with this strategy does ensure you are more likely to hit the spot than if you were shooting one arrow at a time.

Similarly, other ricochet-based attacks, spells, and items allow you to do the same thing.

From there, you can combine these attacks with the heavy-hitting damage your Pawns are able to do. The best Dragon’s Dogma 2 Pawns that focus on damage output and have strong melee weapons can climb onto the Golem and target its weak spots on its body, landing tons of high-damage blows and live to tell the tale as the Golem collapses to the ground after being stunned.

If you don’t have anything to deal damage, climbing on the Golem can work as a last resort.

If you have nothing to actually deal damage to the Golem, there is always the option of climbing onto its body and attacking its weak spots. By climbing around its body, you can maneuver your way to its weak spots as they are exposed and land strong melee attacks, similar to what your Pawns can do when attacking these large enemies.

Golems can be found throughout caverns and caves across the land and if you want to get a good idea of the closest one to you, check out our Dragon’s Dogma 2 world map. Additionally, take a read through our guide on how to unlock the Magick Archer class in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
