Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

How to Defeat Elite Four Lucian

By
Vincent Lau

This page explains how to defeat Elite Four Lucian.

(1 of 2) Lucian is the final member of the Elite Four.

Lucian is the last member of Sinnoh’s Elite Four–the Psychic-type master. After Flint, you may be pleased to know that Lucian actually has a team of Psychic-types. Also, although Lucian marks the end of the Elite Four, there is one more battle after him. So don’t go wasting all your items!

First up is "Mr. Mime" IconMr. Mime. This nonchalant clown can use Reflect and Light Screen to weaken your physical or special moves for 8 turns, with its Light Clay. For attacks, it has Psychic and Dazzling Gleam for STAB. We suggest using a Ghost or Steel-type, but keep in mind Filter will reduce their effectiveness slightly.

"Girafarig" IconGirafarig can also use Light Screen, plus Trick Room to make slower Pokémon go first for 5 turns. Unlike Mr. Mine, Girafarig does’t have a Light Clay, but it does have a Mental Herb so it cannot be interrupted from using those moves. Besides that, it can use Psychic for STAB and Thunderbolt because it’s cool. Show it who’s boss by fielding a Dark or Bug-type. Don’t use Grass moves because of Sap Sipper.

"Medicham" IconMedicham is all about power. It can use Zen Headbutt and High Jump Kick for STAB–the latter deals big damage, but will hurt the user instead if its misses. It’s also got Thunder and Ice Punch for coverage. Ghost and Fairy-types are strongly recommended.

(1 of 2) Bronzong can be tough if you’re not prepared.

Bronzong can be tough if you’re not prepared. (left), When Trick Room is up, Bronzong will likely go first since it’s super slow. (right)

"Alakazam" IconAlakazam is crafty and not to be underestimated. Lucian’s is carrying a Life Orb, which boosts its damage and is protected from HP loss due to Magic Guard. To further improve its potency, it can use Nasty Plot to greatly enhance its Special Attack. For attacks, it can whip out Psychic, Future Sight and Shock Wave. Dark-types are the safest choice.

Lucian’s ace is "Bronzong" IconBronzong, which might not seem too dangerous. However, it’s extremely tanky and has very few weaknesses. In terms of moves, it can use Trick Room like Girafarig, which will allow it to move first, unless you’ve got an even slower Pokémon. Plus Gyro Ball for STAB, Earthquake to counter Fire-types and Payback to annoy Ghost-types. Again, a Dark-type would be extremely helpful here. Avoid Ground-types due to Levitate.
