Oreburgh City (Locations & Items)

By
Staci Miller

Oreburgh City is the first city with a Gym you’ll come to in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Other than the gym, however, there are a few things to do here.

Main Story

You’ve come to Oreburgh City to challenge Roark, but first, you need to find him.

Head south of the city to Oreburgh Mine. It’s not hard to find Roark, and he immediately returns to the Oreburgh Gym so you can head on up there and challenge him when you’re ready.

Items

There are a few optional but important items you should find in Oreburgh City.

Item Location
Dusk_Ball.pngDusk Ball In the first building towards the top right of the city after entering from the left - head upstairs and talk to the child.
Heal_Ball_Icon.pngHeal Ball In the next house to the right, talk to the man with a "Zubat" IconZubat in your party and he’ll be impressed enough to give you this.
GreatBall_Icon.pngGreat Ball The house below the museum has a boy who will hand this over on the second floor.

(1 of 2) Talk to the boy sitting down for the Great Ball

There is also a Poké Mart with various items for sale. More will unlock as you collect badges, so every time you visit this city, there will be new items for sale. Early in the game, you’ll find the following items.

Mining Museum

Once you gain the ability to go to the Grand Underground in Eterna City, you’ll be able to dig up fossils. You can then return to the Mining Museum in Oreburgh any time to revive these fossils, but he can only do one at a time.

Notable Encounters

Like every city, this town has a Pokémon Center. Use it to heal your Pokémon whenever you need to.

In the same house you found the Heal Ball, there’s a woman who will offer to trade her "Abra" IconAbra for your "Machop" IconMachop. As Abra is pretty hard to catch, this is a worthwhile trade you should consider.

It’s actually a pretty good offer, especially this early in the game.

There are various other NPCs around the houses who will offer tricks and tips for early players of the games. Seasoned players, however, shouldn’t have to worry about these.
