Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

Route 224 (Encounters & Items)

By
Vincent Lau

This is a walkthrough for Route 224, including what Pokémon you can encounter and items you can find.

(1 of 2) Route 224.

Route 224. (left), You must cut through a previously blocked area of Victory Road to get here. (right)

Route 224 is the easternmost route in Sinnoh, accessible by passing through the east cave of Victory Road. The route features small grass fields, a beach, watery paths and a hilly climb.

How to Reach the Central Raised Strip

(1 of 2) It’s hard to see, but you can squeeze through here.

It’s hard to see, but you can squeeze through here. (left), From there, go between the trees or surf around. (right)

Towards the center of the area, there’s an elongated raised strip of land. At first glance, it might not be obvious how to reach there (it took us a while at least). Further west, at the edge of the grassy field, there’s a small gap where you can squeeze between the trees. It’s just above the 3 x 3 square cluster of trees.

What to Do at End of Route 224

When you reach the endpoint of Route 224, there’s probably nothing you can do right now. However, if you have Oak’s Letter (obtained via a future event distribution), Professor Oak will appear and show you the way to Seabreak Path. This leads to the Flower Paradise where "Shaymin" IconShaymin is found.

(Currently, it’s possible–with sheer determination–to glitch your way to the Flower Paradise, but that’s beyond the scope of our guide.)
