Diablo IV

How to Switch Weapons as a Barbarian in Diablo 4

By
Craig Robinson

The Barbarian’s arsenal system is rather unique, allowing players to mix and match weapons to get different buffs and interactions from their passives. Moreso, there are plenty of parts of the Barbarian’s legendary affixes that reward players for using a variety of weapons in their playstyle. However, it is not very obvious how to switch weapons in Diablo 4. So, we aim to dust off those concerns.

Open your skills menu, then find the button that says cycle weapon to switch weapons on each applicable skill.

How to switch weapons in Diablo 4

When you’re on your Barbarian, open up your skills menu, by pressing S-Key on the keyboard or open your menu on a controller. When inside, you can move over the skills you are using, and if you have a skill that doesn’t require a special weapon attack, then you can change the weapon it uses. On keyboard, you press the middle mouse buttonMouseMiddleButton, and it will cycle through the weapons you can use for the skill.

Moreover, sometimes you will find certain phrases on legendary barbarian aspects that reward the player with buffs for swapping weapons. All this means is using skills that use different weapons in your build. If you intend to use these legendaries, change the weapons your skill use by following the above. As for the legendaries in question, these are:

  • Tempering Blows: After swapping weapons, gain Fortify
  • Earthstriker: After swapping weapons several times, your next attack will Overpower, and deal increased Overpower damage.
  • Battle-Mad: Gain Berserking after swapping weapons a certain number of times.

As you can see, a few legendaries in the game offer rewards such as Berserking, overpower, or Fortify. It means you can gain additional sources of damage or defense by using different weapons in your playstyle. So, if you’re not locked into a theme of using a single weapon, like two-handed swords for bleed builds, then these legendaries are worth picking up to grant some extra damage bonuses.
