Avarice, the Gold Cursed, is one of the World Bosses in Diablo 4, who may appear at any world boss site in the game. This world boss is a giant Treasure Goblin, who carries with it a big hammer, and wielding a large chest reward for some added roleplay goodies at the end of the fight. Diablo 4 Avarice, The Gold Cursed World Boss Guide¶

The main thing you need to know about Avarice the Gold Cursed is that he is a random spawn world boss, which can spawn in a pool of World bosses, featuring Ashava and Wandering Death. When a world boss event spawns on the world map, and has a timer, you can tell which world boss you will get by the animation of the creature spawning into the world. You can tell it’s Avarice by the golden lightning emitting from the floor.

When the boss fight commences, the boss will portal in, and do a range of the following tactics you need to dodge:

• Spin attack: The boss spins around and does a sweep attack using its made and treasure chest. Dodge the spin attack. You can tell it’s about to do the move as the boss will lower its mace hand towards the ground, giving you around a second to dodge it, depending on your distance to the mace. Ideally, you should ways be behind the boss for the best chances.
• Uppercut. The boss stance shifts forward, with its flinging its mace from the floor forward, uppercutting players in front of the boss.
• Portal: The boss will periodically charge in a direction, disappearing into a golden portal. It will then emerge from the portal and charge momentarily, essentially doing a U-turn on the right side of the original portal facing.
• Spew Gold: After you lower its HP by around 1 milestone, the boss will begin to spew golden pools on the ground directly in front of it. These serve as poison pools, so avoid standing in them, as you will take damage while standing on top of one.
• Gold Pillars: After it passes 75% HP, the boss can spawn golden pillars under several players. These will eventually explode, marked by their AOE radius around them. Being inside this zone will kill anyone inside, so, run when needed to, and be careful of your position, as if they are stacked quite closely, only really strong movement skills can escape it.

Other than that, there isn’t really that much too this world boss. Oh, and once you kill the world boss, don’t forget to beat its Treasure Chest up for some extra gold, gems, and potentially an extra piece of gear.
