By
Shane Williams

The Diablo 4 Main Quest offers plenty of scenarios and you’ll often be facing off against challenging bosses and encounters that will stand in your way in the "Anguish Incarnate" iconAnguish Incarnate Main Quest which takes place at the end of Act IV. This page will navigate you through the necessary steps to finding and defeating Andariel, Maiden of Anguish.

Enter the Blasted Scarp to begin the battle.

How to Find Andariel, Maiden of Anguish

Before you can fight Andariel, Maiden of Anguish you’ll need to progress through the game until you reach the Main Quest Anguish Incarnate which takes place in Act IV. Here you’ll want to enter the Forsaken Chapel which can be found by heading north from the Tarsarak Waypoint. Progress through the area until you reach the Blasted Scarp, then you’ll encounter Andariel, Maiden of Anguish.

Andariel, Maiden of Anguish Boss Strategy

You’ll immediately notice from the start of the battle that the space on the battlefield is limited due to the sandstorm circling area, so avoiding its attacks will be a little tricky, as movement is a key part to surviving a lot of Andariel’s attacks. Andariel has three main attacks that you’ll need to place close attention to, but these will become harder to avoid as you progress further into the fight, as she’ll use them in quick succession.

  • Blood Stream

Throughout the battle Andariel will shoot out a stream of blood in multiple directions two times in a row. If you stand in it, then your health will just gradually deplete. However, it’s a simple attack to avoid as they always expand out diagonally from her position and the dark red makes its easy to see in the desert. Simply, stand in the three large open areas until it disappears.

  • Blood Projectiles

Alongside the Blood Stream Attack, Andariel will regularly shoot out projectiles that will home in on your location. If you get hit, then large chunks of your health will be depleted. You can avoid this by simply running around the battlefield and using the dodge skill when they get close.

  • Blood Whip

As you get further into the battle Andariel will start performing two types of whipping attacks. One will involve her slashing down directly in front of her and the other is around her. These attacks don’t have much range, so as long as you aren’t standing too close you should be able to easily dodge out of the way.

  • Rune Chain

Throughout the battle Andariel will summon Rune Chain which will prevent you from running away will allow her to easily attack you, so you’ll want to make sure you take them down straight away.

(1 of 3) Stand in the open area to avoid the blood stream.

In order to defeat Andariel you’ll want to constantly be on the move, so run and use up your strongest attacks, then retreat until your mana is restored. You’ll want to make sure you’ve got a dodge skill available for when she is using the Blood Projectiles or you’ll get hit multiple time and will have to waste a Health Potion. Additionally, you’ll want to make sure you take down any Rune Chains as they spawn otherwise your movement will be restricted and avoiding her attacks will be harder.
