Diablo IV

Should You Skip Campaign Or Not In Diablo 4: Season 1?

By
Craig Robinson

With the launch of any new season, you will create your character, and you will get asked whether you want to skip the campaign or not. The choice is entirely up to you. However, each option has its own pros and cons. So, let’s tackle the debate of whether you should skip the campaign or not in Diablo 4 Season 1.

We are here to answer whether you should skip the campaign or not in Diablo 4 Season 1.

Should You Skip The Campaign Or Not In Diablo 4 Season 1?

So, to quickly get the ball rolling, we have created a list of all the pros and cons of whether you should skip the campaign or not in Diablo 4.

Pros/Cons Skipping the Campaign Playing the Campaign
Pro Immediate access to the seasonal mechanic. Clearer objectives to keep you on track, which help you with journey progression.
Pro Can target XP easier rather than run around having to follow MSQ. You get more legendary items thanks to the end of act boss’s guaranteed legendary drops.
Con Legendaries while leveling are less guaranteed. You won’t get access to the season mechanic straight away.

These points will be true for every season, no matter what. It is worth mentioning the campaign does grant solid XP, which could be a very appealing incentive to do the campaign if you want to. However, the thing to note about season 1 is that the seasonal mechanic is Malignant Hearts. These new equipment types replace gem slots on your jewelry pieces. However, they grant some rather interesting seasonal buffs, so, they really help your build out.

The thing to note about all seasons is that if you do the campaign, then chances are the seasonal mechanic does not activate until it is over. So, that’s a lot of time you are potentially missing out on some really cool build modifiers. For example, Necromancers are having a blast with Corpse Explosion builds, as the Sacrilegious Heart is auto-popping corpses en-masse. Meanwhile, Crit Lightning Storm Druids or Sorcerers are enjoying The Picanta for further crit lightning synergy. These are just two examples of how these new Malignant Hearts season mechanic are impacting builds from level 1 through to end game.

So, for the case of season 1, it does feel like skipping the campaign is not the play, regardless of how attractive the guaranteed legendaries while leveling feel.
