Diablo IV

The Moordaine Lodge Stronghold in Diablo 4

By
Shane Williams

Strongholds are a major focus of Diablo 4, they’re former towns or forts that are overrun by enemies and should you be able to cleanse them, you’ll unlock their features as a town with vendors, sometimes a Waypoint or unlock access to new Dungeons, Events, or Side Quests. This page will guide you on completing the Moordaine Stronghold in Scosglen.

Head to this location to begin this Stronghold.

Hidden deep in the verdant forest, this lodge was once revered by the great hunters of Scosglen.

Moordaine Lodge Stronghold Objectives

  1. Find The Lodge’s Missing Hunters
  2. Slay the "Beast" iconBeast of Moordaine

Where to Find the Moordaine Lodge Stronghold

"Moordaine Lodge" iconMoordaine Lodge is a level 20 Stronghold in Scosglen, but it will scale with your level once you go above that, and could cause you to come across some tougher encounters. You’ll find the Moordaine Lodge Stronghold to the northeast of Scosglen, but can be easily reached by heading north from the "Tirmair Waypoint" iconTirmair Waypoint.

How to Complete Moordaine Lodge

Where to Find The Lodge’s Missing Hunters

  • Gnawed Hunter

Once you’ve arrived at the Moordaine Lodge jump across the bridge and head up to the small cabin in the center of the area and you’ll get an objective to find the three missing hunters. Interact with the Gnawed Hunter who can be found inside the cabin, then you’ll be swarmed by multiple enemies, so you’ll want to make quick work of them by using AoE Skills, such as Blood Surge on Necromancer or Rain of Arrows on Rogue.

  • Punctured Hunter

(1 of 2) Head to these three locations

Head to these three locations (left), and interact with the corpses. (right)

When the ads have been cleared, you’ll want to make your way over northwest corner of the stronghold to find the Punctured Hunters corpse surrounded by a "Bear" iconBear and several "Bloodhawks" iconBloodhawks, so try and bring them close together and use your AoE Skill to take them down, then interact with the corpse to update your objective.

  • Mauled Hunter

You’ll now want to make your way over to the northeast corner of the stronghold to find the Mauled Hunter also being surrounded by another Bear and "Thorn Beast" iconThorn Beasts. Use your trusty AoE Skill to clear them out, then interact with the corpse to trigger the spawn of the Beast of Morrdaine.

How to Defeat The Beast of Moordaine

Once you’ve interacted with all three corpses the Beast of Moordaine which is the main boss of this stronghold will spawn. However, you’ll only need to lower its slightly to cause it to disappear, then you’ll want to head up to the north of the area to enter the small arena. Here the Beast of Moordaines HP will be reset, so you’ll need to lower it down to the first threshold again, but all the boss can do during this form is dash towards you and perform a flurry attack. However, if you do get caught in it, then you’ll want to be sure to heal up quickly. If you successfully dodge the attack, then attack his back.

When you’ve lowered his health down to the first threshold it’ll transform into Fionnir, The Mad Druid and this boss has a few heavy hitting attacks and some DoTs (Damage Over Time). The best way to tackle this boss is to lure him out of his Tornado’s and perform some single target skills. However, it’ll summon ads throughout the battle, so you’ll want to use AoE’s to get them down quickly. Finally, once you get health below half it’ll start combining all of its attacks together, so you’ll want to constantly keep on the move to avoid taking too much damage. We’ll have a rundown of its attacks below:

Slash

One of the more common attacks you’ll see Fionnir do is a simple downwards slash, but it doesn’t have much range, so as long as you’re standing directly next to the boss then you shouldn’t get hit by this. However, if you do get hit, then it’ll deal a tiny bit of damage.

Tornados

(1 of 3) Keep away from the Tornado’s.

Throughout the entire battle Fionnir will fire out single or multiple tornadoes which will move around the arena, so you’ll want to make sure you dodge out of the way or your health will gradually deplete if you stand inside it. Additionally, you’ll want to avoid attacking the boss inside the tornado, so instead lure him out of it before hitting him.

Stomp

Alongside the tornado’s Fionnir will regularly stomp and will unleash a wave of dirt in three directions. If you’re standing in its path, then you’ll be pushed back and will take some damage, so be sure to heal up afters. You’ll see the directions of the wave by looking at the AoE marker on the ground a second before the attack, so you can dodge out of the way.

Moordaine Lodge Stronghold Rewards

So now that you’ve finally cleansed the Stronghold (or are reading ahead to see if it’s worth it), what are your hard-earned rewards? You’ll be rewarded with 100 Scosglen Renown and the Ferals’ Den and Twisted Hollow Dungeons will become available.
