Diablo IV

Diablo 4 - Hidden Quest Better Days Walkthrough

By
Nathan Garvin

While your pursuit of Lilith is, if the prophecies have any weight, paramount to the survival of Sanctuary, that doesn’t preclude taking some time off to help various NPCs with their relatively petty problems. Such is the substance of side quests in Diablo 4, and while some quests would, in less pressing circumstances, have appreciable stakes involved, the subject of the walkthrough for this page - the side quest "Better Days" iconBetter Days - is about as trivial as it gets.

Keep an eye out for treasures from Margraves past as you explore - we randomly found a “Faded Old Painting”, which started this quest.

How to Start Better Days in Diablo 4

This is one of the more obscure side quests we’ve encountered, and even, we daresay, hidden. Triggering this side quest is a good bit more than half the battle, and doing so seems to be a matter of pure luck. You’ll start this quest as soon as you find a Faded Old Painting, but there doesn’t seem to be any specific spawn point for it - we found it when we accidentally (we swear!) looted a random corpse during an event we had cleared several times already - it’s not something we actively sought out nor expected, and we don’t know if it only triggers in certain locations (we were in the Desolate Highlands, just outside of "Kyovashad" iconKyovashad). You may also need to complete Legacies of the Light’s Watch, first. Other than that, all we can suggest is you don’t ignore otherwise mundane sources of loot - search corpses, tree stumps, piles of rocks. You never know what you may uncover.

Take the Faded Old Painting back to Zalan Coste in Margrave to earn a reward.

How to Complete Better Days in Diablo 4

Completing this hidden side quest is far easier than starting it. Once you find - by whatever means - the Faded Old Painting, make your way down to Margrave in the Dobrev Taiga and talk to Zalan Coste. This NPC also gives you the aforementioned Legacies of the "Light's Watch" iconLight’s Watch quest, but once you have the Faded Old Painting you can complete Better Days by just picking the dialog option “Do you recognize this painting I found?”. After some chatter, the quest will end and you’ll get a Cache, some XP and Gold. He’ll also ask you to bring him other relics from Margrave’s past, should you find them, suggesting there may be more treasures out there…
