Mounts are coming in Diablo IV and will offer us a new way of getting around the world, and also, something else we can armor up and customize.

Currently, everybody is playing the Open Beta and wondering how to unlock a mount and go riding, but is it even possible?

Diablo IV Mounts - Can They Be Unlocked In The Beta?¶

The sad news is that, even though you can interact with stables and see others riding around you won’t be able to get your own mount in the Open Beta of Diablo IV, which is a real shame.

(1 of 3) This is the screen where you will ultimately be able to choose your mount and go riding.

The section of the game where mounts become available to you as a player is gated in the main story, and in the beta version, the story won’t progress far enough on for your to get one for yourself.

You can still interact with the horse-sellers of the world and even look at their wares, but beyond that, nothing else is possible yet.

You can see in the image above how your Stable will look and work though at least.

Can You Customize A Mount?¶

You will be able to customize your mount, when you eventually get your hands on one. Items such as Horse Armor (yes really, early 2000’s meme fans), different kinds of horse shoes that affect your mount’s speed across terrain, and Hoof Plates.

Pre-Order Mounts¶

If you have pre-ordered Diablo IV ahead of its June launch then you will get at least one mount in your download, and depending on what version you have ordered, you may get an extra one too. These are the mounts available in the pre-orders if you really want to get going from the off.
