Diablo IV

Diablo 4 Wrathful Malignant Hearts - The Great Feast Stats and Farming Tips

By
Nathan Garvin

While perhaps not as powerful as The Barber Heart, The Great Feast Heart does try to buff minions and make the Summonmancer more World Tier 4 viable, something that many Necromancer players desperately yearn for. If you like commanding mobs of murderous minions and are looking for ways to buff their damage output, this page will discuss The Great Feast’s stats, strengths, weaknesses, and provide tips for overcoming the RNG and obtaining one of your very own.

Diablo 4 The Great Feast Wrathful Malignant Heart Stats

The Great Feast Malignant Heart is an oddity, clearly designed for a class with a need in mind. When socketed into jewelry, this Wrathful Heart will cause each of your minions to drain 1.0 - 2.0 Essence per second, but in exchange they’ll gain a +50 - 75% damage increase. If you don’t have any minions, you get the bonus damage at the expense of losing 5.0 Essence per second. It’s a hefty decrease to your Essence, and you’ll either have to do without Essence (using skills that consume corpses or have cooldowns, instead) or find a way to generate Essence above what The Great Feast drains.

It’s worth keeping in mind that the damage boost from The Great Feast is additive, not multiplicative, so the numbers you see on-screen might not get as high as you’d expect. Also, despite the wording, it doesn’t seem like the Determination Malignant Heart counters the Essence drain caused by The Great Feast. Given the somewhat lackluster damage boost and the high, hard to mitigate downside, The Great Feast requires very specific builds and careful consideration.

You can spend ichor to craft Uncertain Hearts and Uncertain Invokers, which may yield Wrathful Hearts or Wrathful Invokers, respectively.

How To Farm For The Great Feast Heart In Diablo 4

Farming The Great Feast Heart In Diablo 4 - Uncertain Hearts and Uncertain Invokers

Wrathful Hearts are the rarest sort of Malignant Hearts in Diablo 4, and unfortunately the class-specific Wrathful Hearts - including The Great Feast - cannot be obtained until your character is in World Tier 4. Unlike the other types of Malignant Heart, neither Wrathful Hearts nor Wrathful Invokers can be directly crafted via Cormond’s Workbench. Instead you’ll need to go to the “Crafted Cache” option and attempt to craft an Uncertain Heart (which has a chance to spawn a Wrathful Heart) or an Uncertain Invoker (which has a chance to spawn an Wrathful Invoker). This relies on pure RNG, however, so you’ll need to run a lot of Malignant Tunnels to get the ichor you need to roll these.

At the end of Malignant Tunnels you may find a Wrathful Outgrowth, which can yield a Wrathful Heart if you have a Wrathful Invoker.

Failing that, you can hope to get lucky in another way. Malignant Elites - including Wrathful variants - can randomly spawn and will drop the appropriate type of Malignant Heart when defeated. Enemies can also randomly drop Wrathful Invokers, which you can use on Wrathful Outgrowths in Malignant Tunnels to potentially get Wrathful Hearts.

At the end of the day, just grinding the marquee season content - Malignant Tunnels - is probably your best bet when it comes to getting your hands on !The Great Feast.

Farming The Great Feast Heart In Diablo 4 - Malignant Tunnels

Whether you need ichor to roll Uncertain Hearts or Uncertain Invokers, or you want to directly farm for Wrathful Elites or Wrathful Invokers, your best bet is just to run Malignant Tunnels over and over again until you get what you want… preferably a grind you’ll put off until at least World Tier 3 so you can get your hands on The Barber, or in the case of The Great Feast, World Tier 4.

Investing in the Urn of Malignance may give you some luck on the RNG side of things.

Last and not least, you can also spend Smoldering Ashes to upgrade the Urn of Malignance, which will increase the drop rate of rare Malignant Hearts.

Farming The Great Feast Heart In Diablo 4 - Echo of Varshan

Failing all those options, you can seek out the Echo of Varshan, which will drop a random Malignant Heart of any type… which is roughly a 1-in-32 chance of getting the exact specimen you want. Not great, and all in all this is probably the least efficient method of farming Malignant Hearts, as you need a Foul Invoker, or a Tormented Invoker to do that. The Echo of Varshan also isn’t a pushover, he’s certainly more trouble to bring down than the random Malignant Elites you’ll find in Malignant Tunnels.
