Diablo IV

Diablo 4 Skeletal Priests Mechanic Explained

By
Craig Robinson

Diablo 4’s Necromancer allows you to summon a Skeletal Priest in your army of the undead if you choose to do a summoner build. The result is that you have a supportive minion, who will periodically top up the HP of your minions, which is a very important part of this build, as your undead friends can get slapped about really hard. Here’s everything you need to know about the Skeletal Priest in Diablo 4.

Skeletal Priests look like Skeletal Mages, which may add some confusion about what they do in your army of the dead.

Everything you need to know about the Skeletal Priest in Diablo 4.

Skeletal Priests are a type of summon that you call forth from the grave using your Summon Skeleton spell. Per the tool tip, the Skeleton Priest does this:

Once all of your Skeletons have been summoned, Raise Skeleton briefly summons a Skeletal Priest to empower your Minions for 5 seconds, increasing their damage by 20% and healing them for 10% of their Maximum Life.

Therefore, summoning the Skeletal Priest is important to your notation as you consume corpses. This grants a very powerful damage buff to minions, and, keeping them alive is also an important part, especially on some heavy mobbing, or some very hard-hitting bosses.

In addition, players can also get their hands on improvements to the Skeletal Priests. The main passive you want to invest in is as follows

  • Bonded in Essence: Every 5 seconds, your Skeletal Priest’s Healing will Heal your Skeletons for an additional 20% of their maximum life. Every point you place in this skill raises the maximum health heal by 20%, with it capping at 60%.
  • Death’s Defense: The Passive node you can pick up outside of the Bonded in Essence reduces the amount of max damage a minion can receive in a single hit.

Combining the two talents together, and you stop your minions from being one shot, or two-shot, and then restored borderline to full HP from your Priest. These two talents are very important for ensuring your build functions if you opt to go for a minion build.

This concludes everything you need to know about your Skeletal Priests in Diablo 4.
