The Wooden Shield is a basic shield that can be used to protect from attacks. However, since it’s made from wood, it’s flammable. So avoid bringing it to fiery environments.
To use your shield, waggle the nunchuck/left Joy Con/click the left stick inwards to perform a Shield Bash and raise your shield. While raised, the shield will negate damage, at the cost of expending the shield gauge.
Once the shield gauge is depleted, the shield will break and you’ll have to find a replacement. Before that happens, you can top up the shield gauge by drinking a Revitalizing Potion or by visiting the Scrap Shop.
If you perform a Shield Bash right before an attack, you’ll parry the attack, which often stuns the foe and doesn’t reduce your shield gauge.
Where to Find¶
Given to you by Horwell as you depart the Knight Academy, on your way to the surface world.
Afterwards, you can buy another Wooden Shield from the Gear Shop in the Bazaar for 50 Rupees.
Upgrades¶
The Wooden Shield can be upgraded to the Banded Shield.
Or you could wait for the Iron Shield, purchasable from the Bazaar after clearing Skyview Temple.
