Octoroks are now land creatures that barely resemble their counterparts from older 2D Zelda titles; instead, they’re more like Deku Scrubs from previous Zelda games.
These monsters will shoot rocks towards you, but whenever you go close, they will hide under patches of grass.

How to Defeat¶
To defeat an Octorok, you can perform a shield bash to bounce its rock back at it, killing it straight away. You can also use your sword to slash the rock back.
Later, you can use the Whip to pull the Octorok up from the ground for a short period of time, allowing you to freely slash away with your sword.
