Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader

Classified Information Walkthrough - How to Find the Hidden Caches - Rogue Trader

By
Matt Chard

Classified Information is a quest you’ll get at the beginning of Chapter 2 in Rogue Trader. After reading the journal, you’ll need to decrypt the data on the personal cogitator which then ends up with you needing to find hidden caches on Dargonus and Kiava Gamma. Although you’ll know what you need to do by reading the journal, it’s not clear how to achieve it. Read on to find out how to solve this tricky puzzle and complete the quest.

How to Decrypt the Data on the Personal Cogitator

On the bridge of your voidship, head over to the eastern side where you’ll find two Tech-Priests standing next to a large console (this is opposite the map table) and place your hand in the servitor’s maw. When you get the chance, tell the Tech-Priests that Pasqual told you about the encrypted data, and then pass the two [Tech-Use] checks to learn about the hidden caches on Dargonus and Kiava Gamma. Depending on when you start this quest, you may have to progress the story until you reach Dargonus which is in the Mundus Valancius system to the north of the Koronus Expanse. Once you’ve reached Dargonus, enter the area.

(1 of 3) Place your hand in the servitor’s maw opposite the map table on the voidship.

Dargonus Hidden Cache Location

When you enter Dargonus, you’ll be treated to a short scene of your arrival. Proceed through the story stuff until you can enter the palace. A servant here will tell you where you can rest, so take her up on the offer and head up the stairs to the right. Inside the room, there’s a lot of loot to pick up, most of it being cargo but you can obtain the "Breezecatcher Boots" iconBreezecatcher Boots which you’ll find is hidden next to the bookshelves to the left of the room entrance, this requires you to pass an [Awareness] check to open it.

When you’re done looting the room, head into the door to the right of the desk (if your camera is facing the desk) and you’ll find yourself in a bedroom. In here, interact with the small button on the chair next to the bed to reveal a hidden room. Here, you’ll find some more loot including the "Plasmashaper Gloves" iconPlasmashaper Gloves and the "Zealot Cloak" iconZealot Cloak. When you’re finished looting, sit down on the sofa at the back of the room, and select the following options in any order:

  • Have a glass of wine - [Pour a glass of Flame of Purity].

  • Read a book - [Choose the book “Litanies of the Motive Force”].

  • Change the music - [Choose the piece “The Symphony of Honor and Duty, Part 2”].

If you get this wrong, some guards will rush into the room but will quickly leave when they realize who you are, which allows you to try again. When done correctly, you’ll receive the “Data-Bank With von Valancius Coat of Arms”. That’s Dargonus’ cache down, now you’ll want to head to Kiava Gamma.

(1 of 7) Inside the Palace, enter the room you can rest in and then go through the door to the right of the desk.

Kiava Gamma Cache Location

Kiava Gamma is a place you’ll need to visit in the story, so you may as well progress with that. You’ll find the world in the Cranach system on the west side of the Koronus Expanse. Before you enter Kiava Gamma, make sure you stock up on healing supplies, grenades, and any other consumables that will give you a leg up in combat as this area is a huge story dungeon with at least four bosses. If you want a full walkthrough of the area, check out our in-depth Kiava Gamma Walkthrough. When you’ve cleared out the area from enemies, make your way to the east side of the map which is marked on the map below.

Before you head into the room, pick up the nearby valve which is sitting in a mine cart north of the room as you’ll need it in a bit. Head into the room and interact with the computer. Select “Bring your electoo to the scanner” for a short scene. Now head over to the wall, interact with the “goods” next to it, and place the valve on it which can be found under the notable section of your inventory. Go into the room slowly and disable the two traps before interacting with the computer. This will bring up two options, turn off the gas supply and request Theodora’s data. Turn off the gas first, otherwise the room you’re in will fill up with gas afterward and then request the data which concludes the Kiava Gamma section.

(1 of 5) Here you can see what room the cache is in and where to find the valve.

Where to Authorize the Data-Bank Decryption

Exit Kiava Gamma and go to the bridge of your ship. Interact with the computer near the two Tech-Priests and hand the data over to them. Read through the dialogue to find a bunch of code with one keyword “Nomos” standing out. When you’re done with that, tell them to report it to Pasqual and the quest will be completed. Now, you won’t get a reward for all of this, but as you traverse the galaxy, you’ll get numerous choices related to this quest, and you may want to respond to them gently to get the most out of them.

(1 of 2) On your voidship, interact with the console near the two Tech-Priests.
