Metaphor: ReFantazio

Leogron Boss Guide

By
Jarrod Garripoli

There are plenty of bosses to be fought in Metaphor: ReFantazio, especially at the end of optional dungeons. For the Peak Curiosity quest, you’re sent to the Spire of Blind Faith, a dungeon that is located to the south of Virga Island. At the top of the tower, you will have to face off with the Leogron, a large bird-like creature. This page will go over the strategy for defeating the Leogron, including its weaknesses and listing all of its abilities.

Leogron is fought at the top of the Spire of Blind Faith.

All of Leogron’s Attacks

The Leogron is a fairly straightforward boss fight, with not much that happens other than its normal patterns.

  • "Heat Riser" iconHeat Riser: Leogron will use this as its first move, which increases attack/defence/hit/evasion by one rank for three turns. It will always use it again when the buffs run out.

  • "Blizzaton" iconBlizzaton: Deals heavy magic Ice damage to one character.

  • Chimera’s Wing: Deals heavy magic Wind damage to all characters. Lowers their Attack for 3 turns.

  • Ice Claw: Deals medium physical Ice damage to one character. May inflict Frostbite.

  • Boneclaw Slash: Deals heavy physical Slash damage to one character.

  • Deadeye Stance: Guarantees one attack will always hit. Will always use Chimera’s King Wing after using this.

(1 of 5) Leogron will always use Heat Riser on its first turn.

  • Chimera’s King Wing: Deals extreme magic Wind damage to all characters. Significantly decreases their Attack for 3 turns. Will always use this after Deadeye Stance.

Leogron Boss Strategy

The Leogron is a fairly basic boss, with the gimmick that you don’t want any of your characters in the front row. With that said, having "Gunner" iconGunners here will work out great, since the boss is weak to Pierce and they can do full damage from the back row with their Pierce attacks. Likewise, a "Mage" iconMage/"Wizard" iconWizard should be great, too, as the boss is also weak to fire. Of course, the biggest problem with this battle depends solely on when you do the dungeon, as it is perpetually in bad weather. This means that while you get the full damage from weaknesses, you won’t get the extra Turn Icons from striking those weaknesses (and critical hits).

Since your characters will be in the back row, they are going to take less damage from the boss, but you can also use skills like "Marakukaja" iconMarakukaja to mitigate it even more. As for the boss’ abilities, it always starts with Heat Riser to buff itself and will reapply it whenever it runs out. Hopefully you don’t have characters weak to ice or wind here (especially the latter), since the Leogron uses multiple abilities of both types throughout the fight. The two ice skills are single target only, though, while the two wind skills hit all characters.

(1 of 5) The Leogron has two weaknesses, one of them being Pierce attacks.

Speaking of those, Chimera’s Wing and Chimera’s King Wing are definitely the two biggest attacks out of the group. The reason for this is because they will both reduce your party’s attack power, with King Wing doing it by three ranks. While this will only directly impact the damage you do, it will still make the fight longer than needed. If you have "Dekunda" iconDekunda available, it’s definitely a good idea to bring that into the battle, so you can get rid of the debuffs.

Outside of that, though, the fight isn’t so bad. If you want a new weapon for your "Commander" iconCommander line, then use "Steal" iconSteal on the Leogrom to snag a "Crystal Ice Gunbai" iconCrystal Ice Gunbai. Once you defeat the creature, you will receive the Monster’s Notebook, the item you need for the associated quest.
