A number of side quests in Metaphor: ReFantazio will have you visiting optional dungeons, in order to either collect an item or defeat a specific enemy. Soldier’s Solace is a side quest you can grab from Port Brilehaven, where you are sent to Gracia Forest to get samples of Dragonthistle Berry, to help make medicine.
Soldier’s Solace Location¶
Soldier’s Solace can be gotten from a NPC in the Angler’s Inn Square area of Brilehaven, but only once you get to the part with free time, which occurs from July 23rd onwards. The NPC will be standing right to the tower that has the Wisdom Royal Virtue activity. The woman wants your help in securing some ingredients for a special medicine she intends to use on the city’s guard corps, which were ambushed by a human. The fruit she needs is called the Dragonthistle Berry, and it’s only found in the Gracia Forest. There are seven berries you need to grab from the forest.

Don’t forget to get the valuable info from the Informant in Brilehaven, who tells you about the Kokasados enemy you will encounter in the forest. As for the other enemies, depending on what you have done already, you might already outlevel most of them, so you can defeat them on the overworld without having to go into Squad Battles. However, you might want to use the Merchant’s skill that increases the drop rate and fight the Canibaflo enemies (the flowers), as their common item is a cooking ingredient.
The only enemy you really need to watch out for is the Manjula, as they are level 35 and quite nasty. Not only can it debuff your attack and defense, but it also has abilities that can Poison and Paralyze. There are only two spots with this enemy in the dungeon and you will want to steal the Chimera Armour from it, as it’s a good armor for your tank Archetypes. This dungeon is fairly linear, so there aren’t too many side paths, plus all of the Dragonthistle Berries are marked on the map.

As far as items go, there’s also nothing too worthwhile to pick up from this dungeon, other than the Gold Beetle in the northeastern corner of the map. Once you acquire the last Berry, the Kokasados will come to attack you. Defeat it, then return to town and hand over the Berries to the questgiver to finish.
Soldier’s Solace Rewards¶
Once you have gotten the Dragonthistle Berries and brought them back to the lady, you will receive 30,000 Reeves as a reward. Additionally, she will also give you a Dragonblood Sap, an item that completely restores the HP and MP of a single ally.
