Metaphor: ReFantazio

Maneater Manjula, Fiend of the Wastes

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Bounties are notorious enemies that are kind of on the same level as bosses in Metaphor: ReFantazio. You will first unlock Bounties once you reach the town of Martira, which happens after completing the Grand Cathedral dungeon. One of the first Bounties will have access to is Maneater Manjula, which will be found in Tradia Desert.

Maneater Manjula is one of the first bounties you will have available to you.

Maneater Manjula Location

The Maneater Manjula Bounty can be gotten on 6/29, when you first have access to extra bounties at the recruitment place in Martira. Once you’ve accepted the quest for the bounty, teleport to the Hushed Honeybee Inn in Grand Trad, then speak with the Informant there to get some more tips for this hunt. The Informant mentions that it’s resistant to fire, but weak to ice. It also can breathe fire, as well as inflict poison, so it’s a good idea to be prepared for that. Upon getting ready, head on over to Sunlumeo Street and take the southern exit, which will lead to Tradia Desert.

Tradia Desert Walkthrough

This is another pretty open area that doesn’t really need much of a walkthrough, but here is one, just in case. By the time you get this bounty, the enemies in the desert should be well out of your range. The Wild Corvos are the large birds, which are level 9, and they are weak to pierce attacks. The Sandworm Valmos are level 11 and weak to ice (while blocking fire), but they have quite a lot of health. The last enemy you will encounter here are the Hyenos, which are the target for the first part of this bounty.

(1 of 3) The Informant in the Honeybee Inn will have some info about this bounty.

They are only level 8 and shouldn’t pose much of a threat, since you should be able to defeat them without going into battle. As far as the treasures around this small desert area go, you will probably not find much of use. From where you entered, if you head southeast a little bit, you will find a Gold Beetle next to some bushes. The rest of the stuff is either nothing worthwhile, or items you can sell at shops for money.

Maneater Manjula Boss Strategy

Depending on when you go back to do this bounty, Manjula can be a little troublesome. War Cry will lower everyone’s attack and defense, so that makes your party take more damage, while they deal less. Poison Needle is the move that can inflict poison, as the name says, in addition to doing decent damage. Fire Breath is probably the biggest move to watch out for, as it hits your entire party for fire-damage, so hopefully no one is weak to that element. Stinger Attack and Stinger Frenzy are single-target skills, with the latter being slightly stronger.

(1 of 4) War Cry will debuff both your attack and defense.

Maneater Manjula is weak to both strike and ice, so a Mage with Blizz will work great here, as well as a Brawler, if you have someone as one. Keep tabs on anyone who might get poisoned and immediately cure it. If you come to this after getting the fourth party member, then things might be even easier. Of course, a Mage will be potentially targeted for their weakness to pierce, which the Manjula has with three of its five attacks. Additionally, you likely don’t want a Seeker here, since they are weak to fire. That fourth party member also has access to Steal, which you can use on this creature to get an appraisable weapon.

You will receive a Bone Helm after the battle, plus the usually assortment of numbers. Your party will loot the Rampager Tail from the body, which you will turn into the recruiter to get your reward.
