There are some Followers in Metaphor: ReFantazio that will give you quest in order to further their bond with you. Bardon is one of those Followers, as you will unlock The Right to Rule once you reach Rank 6 with him. It is possible to unlock this fairly early in the game, which can be a problem, as you will be facing a Level 60 boss during the quest. This page will provide tips and strategies on how to defeat the Greatworm Homo Butera boss.
The Right to Rule Location¶
As mentioned above, you will automatically get this quest during the Rank 6 event for Bardon. Depending on when you get this quest, it’s possible that your characters can be severely underleveled for the boss you will face. While you might rank Bardon up early enough to this rank, a good time to fight do the quest is around right before leaving for Altabury. This means you have finished the Dragon Temple, which should probably put you at around level 45+ or so.
The boss you will be facing in this quest is level 60, but it’s a fairly straightforward fight that doesn’t really have much to it. Being prepared is going to be something you want to do, especially if you’re a lower level and want to do this quest. When you think you’re ready, travel to Bardon and speak to him, telling him you’re ready for battle.
Greatworm Homo Butera Boss Strategy¶
You had a brief encounter with this enemy previously in the story, but this time you are going to be fighting it for real. Homo Butera is weak to ice, so having access to that damage type on everyone is something you might want to do, even if it’s just to get some extra Turn Icons. So, if you have access to the General Archetype, then they learn Icy Strike, plus Mages/Wizards should get Blizz/Blizza as part of their skill sets. Another skill you will want to have here is Dekunda, which is learned from the Healer Archetype.
The reason you want Dekunda is that Homo Butera can use Sandstorm to debuff your hit/evasion, which means that you could potentially miss some of your attacks. Getting rid of the debuff will be super helpful, so it’s definitely useful to have equipped. Likewise, you will want a party-wide healing spell for this battle, so something like Medi/Medica (one from Healer, the other from Cleric) will work out well. It is possible that you might have to dedicate one person to using that every round, since three of the four attacks from this boss can hit your entire party.
If you do use a General, then you might want to inherit Marakukaja on that character to bolster your defences. Note that Bardon will periodically use a buff on your party during the course of the battle, usually in the form of buffing your attack or defence. However, don’t rely on his buffing, as it isn’t kept active at all times, hence why it’s a good idea to have someone on your team keep up with Marakukaja. Outside of Sandstorm, which is considered Almighty damage, the rest of the boss’ attacks are physical in nature (Strike, to be exact).
Feral Bite only hits a single character, while Swiping Arc hits the entire party. When it uses Ground Burrow to go underground, do not try to attack it, as your strikes will miss. After it burrows, the next action it takes will have it doing an attack called Sudden Rise, which is basically a party-wide physical attack. The biggest thing you don’t want happening is one of the physical attacks getting a crit, or striking a weakness, since this might cause the boss to do another one.
The Right to Rule Rewards¶
Once you defeat Homo Butera, you will be pretty much done with this quest. Other than a boost to your Courage Royal Virtue, you won’t get any other rewards that you will see. However, after the quest is over, there will be more scenes and your Bond with Bardon will increase to Rank 7.
