As you get to the end of the main story in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you will unlock a slew of side quests and bounties. One of the new bounties will be for a creature known as Kokamordos, Terror of the Skies. This one will be located near Port Brilehaven, in a new optional dungeon named Manor of the Ascendant. The Kokamordos is a pretty standard fight and one you probably realize will be on the easier side.
Kokamordos Location¶
You can get this bounty at any of the recruitment centers in the game, once the calendar reaches 9/26, which will be the final month of the game before getting to the very end. Once you do, the Manor of the Ascendant will appear on the world map, just southwest of Brilehaven. If you wish to get some tips, head to the tavern in Brilehaven and get it from the Informer there. When you’re ready, head to your runner and access the map, then choose the above dungeon. It will take you a day to get there, so you will have some free time on the runner to do one thing.
The Manor of the Ascendant isn’t a particularly long dungeon, but you will need to utilize some holes in the walls to progress, as well as get every treasure. The goal is to get to the center of the floor, where there is a teleporter that will take you to the end of the dungeon. You will find pedestals in the four cardinal directions, but nothing will be there. If you head to the northern side of the dungeon, there is a switch that will place a teleporter on those pedestals. Use any of them to go to the center, then step on the central one there to go to the final area.
Kokamordos Boss Guide¶
Despite being bigger, the Kokamordos is essentially the same fight as all other enemies of the same type. It is weak to both Pierce and Ice, while it will absorb any Fire-based attacks. The creature will attack you with both Dark attacks, as well as Fire ones. It has access to Dark Breath, as well as Mamudodyne, for the Dark attacks, while the only Fire one is Gabouat (targets all). You will also see that it can use Hell Thrust, which lowers the target’s defence by one rank.
Of course, you don’t want to have anyone’s defences lowered here, because the Kokamordos will do what the other giant bird enemies did, the Peck of Death. At some point, it will target anyone without Rakukaja applied to them and instantly kill them. So, you will want someone with Marakukaja on them and just have that character spam it. The reason for the spam is not only because of Hell Thrust, but also because of Vidyartha, a skill that debuffs someone’s attack and defence by two ranks.
Since the only attack type you cannot use is fire, this is a fairly simple fight, especially with two weaknesses. As long as you keep your defences buffed, you should hopefully avoid the Peck of Death. Other than that, keep your health up at all times, too. Upon defeating the Kokamordos, you can return to the entrance and leave the dungeon, where you bring the item to a recruitment center to receive your reward.
