Metaphor: ReFantazio

Ancient Eldan Sanctum Walkthrough

By
Jarrod Garripoli

After the events at the Royal Capital, when you had your fight against Louis Guiabern, you end up flying over to the Ancient Eldan Sanctum. Upon arriving, follow the trail, only stopping at the Plaza of Light. The path with the dead end will have a "Gold Beetle" iconGold Beetle, behind a collapsed roof, so keep an eye out for it. Otherwise, there are a few scenes, but you won’t find anything else outside, so continue along until you can enter the cave.

There is a missable Gold Beetle on the path to the cave, so don’t forget it.

Inside the cave, just go straight down and enter the Prayer Room, as there’s nothing here. There is a merchant inside the Prayer Room, who sells some nice consumables, should you have extra money, as well as the same equipment upgrades you could get just prior to the last Louis fight. After doing any shopping, you’re free to look around, but to continue the story, you simply need to approach the center of the Prayer Room. This will lead to a number of cutscenes, as well as some choices that actually matter for once.

Bad Ending 1

As you listen to the Mysterious Voice, you will be presented with some choices. These can lead to one of the bad endings in the game, so you want to actually pay attention here. Basically, any choice that mentions something negative, like everything ending or being over, you will want to stay away from those. Should you select one of the options, then you will be pushed to a bad ending and will be forced to reload the last save. There are no trophies or achievements tied to getting any of the bad endings, so try to avoid them at all costs.

(1 of 2) The dialog choices here during the Prince scene can lead to a bad ending.

Something big will happen here and you’ll need to head to the Altar of Secret History, as marked on the map. Speak with Old Hermitess Gruidae here to learn a lot about the history of the world. At this point, you will officially unlock the Prince Archetype, which will be exclusive to the protagonist. It’s quite powerful and you’ll probably use this Archetype for the rest of the game. Just know that you cannot inherit any of the skills learned by the "Prince" iconPrince class, so those skills are also exclusive to it.

Of course, this revelation is cut short, as the attacker from earlier has re-emerged. As you confront him, he spawns a Human to attack you, triggering a boss battle.

Homo Gorleo Rematch Boss Guide

Yep, this boss is back again and it’s pretty much the same fight, except that it will be much stronger and have one or two tricks up its sleeves. The protagonist will automatically switch to the Prince Archetype for this fight, so you won’t have much of a choice for him, but all of the others will use whatever you had on them prior to the start. Gorleo will have the same attacks as in the prologue battle here, using its Wing and Leg to deal damage. However, you can destroy them to weaken those attacks, which can still hit decently hard; they are wboth weak to Wind, so take advantage of that to exploit extra Turn Icons.

As with the prior fight, Gorleo has some apples hanging from its branches. It will use these apples to heal itself, but only for 1,000 HP, which shouldn’t be all too much at this point of the game. You can destroy the apples, too, but the catch with this rematch is that Gorleo has the ability to regenerate all missing parts. That means it can bring back the Wing, Leg, and Apples, but note that it can only do so one at a time. At some point, it might use Soul Scream to gain an additional four Turn Icons, but it won’t use anything new outside of that.

(1 of 6) The protagonist will be stuck with the Prince Archetype here, which is quite powerful.

At this point, it’s a pretty straightforward boss, so just worry about depleting the main body’s health to win. Note that you can get "Gallica" iconGallica to knock off the apples, which might occur due to the boss regenerating them in this fight. Once you defeat the boss, you will witness a bunch of scenes, which includes the final rank up for Gallica’s Bond. Your party will end up returning to Grand Trad, where you will be sent back to the Hushed Honeybee "Inn" iconInn for more scenes.

This will bring you to 9/26, the start of the final set of days for the game. You have one whole month to take care of everything left in the game, which includes your Followers, side quests, and finally taking down Louis for good!
