The 
Gelatinous Mass material is a key item in Final Fantasy XVI that you need for the 
Drakeslayer’s Bracelets armor piece. You won’t be able to obtain the Gelatinous Mass as soon as the armor becomes available, so you’ll need to wait until the Muddy Murder, Flan Prince Hunt / Notorious Mark becomes available. We’ll tell you everything about how to get it on this page.
You need to defeat the !Flan Prince Hunt to obtain the !Gelatinous Mass.
Gelatinous Mass Location in Final Fantasy XVI¶
As soon as the Drakeslayer’s Bracelets become available to craft at the forge in The Hideaway, most players will be keen to craft them as soon as possible. They’re easily among the best armor pieces in the mid game, but you’ll need to wait a while before the Gelatinous Mass - one of the key items required to craft them - becomes available. This is because it can only be looted from a specific enemy at this stage in the game, which you fight as part of a Notorious Mark hunt.
Where to Find the Flan Prince Muddy Murder Hunt Location¶
The Gelatinous Mass can be looted from the Flan Prince, which is a Hunt / Notorious Mark known as Muddy Murder when it first becomes available on the Hunt Board. You gain access to this Hunt once you reach the Bolts from the Blue main quest, so don’t try going to the location shown below until you’ve reached this point in the main story. Assuming you’ve reached at least the Bolts from the Blue main quest, you can now fast travel to 
Martha’s Rest, just northwest of the Hideaway, then fast travel to the 
Hawk’s Cry Cliff obelisk in the southeast of the map there. Once you spawn just in front of the obelisk, head north and continue until you reach the point directly north of the Hawk’s Cry Cliff text on the map. Do not follow the path northwest towards Auldhyl, but instead roam around the cliff edge south of the river.

Flan Prince Hunt Boss Guide¶
The Flan Prince will be underground in this area, so you need to make sure you explore it thoroughly so that you enter the right space to trigger the fight. The monster will emerge from the ground after a brief cutscene, then you’ll need to defeat it to obtain the Gelatinous Mass. You can read our full guide to the Flan Prince Hunt fight here.
Once you have the Gelatinous Mass item, you can return to 
The Hideaway to craft the Drakeslayer’s Bracelets, so long as you also have 1x 
Scarletite, 1x 
Dragon Talon, and 20x 
Briar Clam Shell.
