The 
False Friends side quest in Final Fantasy 16 can be acquired in 
Martha’s Rest once you reach the Holding On main quest. Here you’ll find a person named Brennan and they’ll request that you help find one of the villagers that has recently gone missing. We’ll take you through the necessary steps to completion and where to find Norreis.

Martha’s Rest due to his true identity having been discovered. The bearer’s former friend Ronald is extremely upset at what he sees as a betrayal and asks Clive to help him locate the missing man.
How to Start The False Friends Side Quest¶
Before you can begin the False Friends Side Quest you’ll need to progress through the game until you reach the Hideaway which should take you around 3 hours if you’re starting from the beginning. For those continuing on from the demo, then it should take you an extra hour. From this point, you’ll need to play for a few more hours until you reach the Main Quest Holding On. Here you’ll want to visit Martha’s Rest in 
The Imperial Province of Rosaria and speak with Brennan, Sellsword to begin this quest.
Where to Find Norreis¶
You’ll be tasked with finding Norreis who has disappeared since his real identity has been discovered, so head across the bridge to the south and speak with the Off-duty Sellsword who can be found overlooking the lakes. He’ll inform you that he saw Norreis running off with a lantern, so continue following the path along until you reach a smaller bridge, then take a left. Here you’ll want to look for clues, so interact with the Lamp which can be found on the floor to the north of the area.

From here, continue heading east until you reach the wooden shack, then take a right and you’ll find Norreis standing next to the water. After you’ve reassured him, return to Brennan at Martha’s Rest to bring the quest to a close, then you’ll be rewarded with x10 
Magicked Ash and a 
Meteorite which are both useful crafting materials.
