The main theme of Final Fantasy XVI revolves around humans who can channel the power of the 
Eikons. They are both loved and hated depending on the nation you go to, and outside of the 
Dominant’s it seems that a blessing to use a bit of the icons power can be given. The guide below goes over all eight Eikons and who they are in Final Fantasy XVI and what element they represent.

Who Are The Dominants and What Do They Do?¶
The Dominants are eight people that hold an Eikon’s power inside of them. In the game’s lore, there is only supposed to be one Dominant per element, but 
Ifrit breaks this rule by appearing at the start of the game to fight and ultimately kill Phoenix. The chart below goes over all nine Dominants in Final Fantasy XVI and who they are.

The chart lists the Dominants as they appear in the game with Bahamut and Odin being the last two that are introduced. All Dominants are revealed during the first part of the game. The Eikon’s don’t switch from person to person when defeated, instead, they are born as is the case with Joshua and Clive. Clive, however, does have the mysterious ability to absorb the Eikon’s power, but he does not become that Eikon himself.
It is shown that you are able to use a portion of an Eikons power in the game without having them in your DNA several times. First is when Clive is shown using the power of the Phoenix early on. This is further shown after he absorbs Garuda. While the rules on Eikon power use aren’t crystal clear, they still play a huge role in the games story and should be something you are paying attention to while playing.
