The Litany of Errors side quest in Final Fantasy 16 can be acquired at 
The Hideaway once you reach the Back to Their Origin main quest. Here you’ll find a person named Herman and he wants you to find the registry for the orphanage that he grew up in. We’ll take you through the necessary steps to completion and to finding the registry.
Speak with Herman in The Atrium to begin this quest.
Herman, a recent recruit to the Cursebreakers, seeks to 
Ash, no matter what the assignment might be. Clive refuses on the grounds that it is simply too dangerous, but offers to go in Herman’s stead.
How to Start the Litany of Errors Side Quest in Final Fantasy 16¶
First things first, you’ll need to have completed the main story mission Streets of Madness, and be on Back to Their Origin. When those requirements have been met, head over to Herman who can be found in The Atrium area of the Hideaway. Speak with him and you’ll discover that he was brought up in an orphanage and wants to return and find the registry so that the others that grew up alongside him don’t get forgotten.
Where to Find the Registry¶
Once you’ve finished speaking with Herman, fast travel to the Vidargraes 
Obelisk, then head southeast until you reach 
The Badbach Conservatory. Here you’ll want to enter the building on the left and you’ll find a book on the table. Read it, then go back outside and follow the path along to the left until you reach a white tree. Interact with it to trigger a scene, then you’ll be given the Registry.
However, its not all smooth sailing as you’ll be ambushed by multiple 
Akashic Clergyman and a Akashic Gunnvaldr. To begin you’ll want to ignore the Gunnvaldr and instead group up the Clergyman and use and AoE Attacks, such as 
Diamond Dust to deplete most of their health, then finish them off with 
Magic Bursts. Once you’re one on one with the Gunnvaldr you’ll want to work on staggering it, so use Zantetsuken to increase your gauge to level 5, then chip away at the stagger bar with Magic Burst and other single target attacks like 
Heatwave until Diamond Dust becomes available again.

After you’ve staggered, Gunnvaldr stick down 
Lightning Rod in front of it, then activate your 
Limit Break before unleashing Zantetsuken and 
Gigaflare. This should easily one shot the enemy, but if he’s hanging on by a thread then chuck a few Magic Bursts to finish it off. Whilst you’re trying to take it down you’ll want to watch out for the following attacks below:
- Blackpowder - Gunnvaldr will plant its cannon into the ground and cause mini explosions. Simply stay away from the glowing spots in the ground to avoid it.
- Fireballs - Gunnvaldr will shoot multiple fireballs out of its cannon in quick succession, so keep on the move to avoid it.
- Flamethrower - Gunnvaldr will follow you around the battlefield whilst spraying fire, ust keep your distance from it until it stops.
Once you’ve taken down all the enemies, open the nearby chest for some crafting materials, then return to the Hideaway and give the registry to Herman to bring the quest to a close. Here you’ll be rewarded with The Breath of Fire (
Mesmerize) Accessory. This reduces the cooldown of Mesmerize by 1.2 seconds.
