How to Unlock the Oh, Snap! Trophy in FF16

By
Matt Chard

The “Oh, Snap!” trophy in Final Fantasy 16 can only be completed once you have access to the Shiva Eikon which isn’t available until you reach the Across the Narrow main scenario quest, this is during the last quarter of the game’s story. This trophy requires you to inflict Permafrost on 10 enemies by perfectly dodging attacks with Cold Snap, Shiva’s feat.

Use Shiva’s Cold Snap on an enemy ten times to unlock the Oh, Snap! Trophy in FF16.

What is Cold Snap?

Cold Snap is what Shiva’s feat is called and this allows you to dodge attacks with the DualSense-ButtonCircle button similar to dodging with DualSense-R1. If you perform this in the same manner that you would a precision dodge, you’ll freeze the enemy in its tracks and Permafrost will appear on the right side of your screen.

Cold Snap is Shiva’s Feat ability which can be activated by pressing the O button.

How to Get the Oh, Snap! Trophy

First things first, equip Shiva as one of your Eikons then switch to her by using the DualSense-L2 button to cycle through the Eikons. This trophy can only be done as Shiva, so make sure you stay as her while doing this trophy. As stated above, the trophy is to inflict Permafrost on 10 enemies, but this is a little misleading as it doesn’t need to be used on ten different enemies, but rather ten times on an enemy in general. Because of this, you can find a slow elite enemy like a Gigas, or an Ogre, and do nothing but use Cold Snap on them until you get the trophy.

We mention enemies like Gigas and Ogres because they will charge at you a lot which is one of the easiest attacks to precision dodge in the game. Simply wait until they get close to you and then use Cold Snap (DualSense-ButtonCircle button) through them to freeze them in place. This may take a little practice at first, but once you successfully do it for the first time, you’ll have no problem replicating it. Some other good enemies to fight are the Bighorns which can be found in Three Reeds, Rosaria, and Adamantoises as both of these are also slow enemies with a lot of health that like to charge at you. The latter is slightly more difficult as its charge is quicker, but it’ll use it more often. If any of the enemies refuse to charge at you, get some distance from them, and provoke them with some magic to their faces. Here’s a few places where you can find them:

(1 of 4) You can find a Gigas in Cressida, Rosaria.

  • Gigas - In Cressida, east of Martha’s Rest and southeast of Eastpool, Rosaria.
  • Ogre - Cliff northeast of the Ravenwit Walls obelisk in Waloed.
  • Bighorns - Jump off the cliff south of the Three Reeds obelisk in Rosaria.
  • Adamantoises - North Sorrowise, west of Martha’s Reach, Rosaria.

After you’ve performed the required 10 Permafrost attacks on enemies with Cold Snap, the trophy will appear.

After you inflict Permafrost on an enemy 10 times, you’ll unlock the trophy.
