By
Nathan Garvin

After dispatching the Black Shields around "Port Isolde" iconPort Isolde, Clive is able to meet with his uncle and secure a ship that’ll take him to the Iron Kingdom, where his target, the "Drake's Breath" iconDrake’s Breath Mothercrystal, looms. Before getting down to business, however, Clive returns to The Hideout, ending the quest Black Light Burns and beginning Here Be Monsters. This page will cover Here Be Monsters in Final Fantasy XVI, covering what new side quests and hunts are available to you at this time.

How to Complete Here Be Monsters - FF16 Here Be Monsters Main Quest Walkthrough

At its core, Here Be Monsters is a pretty short quest, you need merely talk to Vivian (located in The Map Room) then Jill (who will be on the Boarding Deck, near The Lift). After that, you’re functionally done wit this quest, but its followup, Fire and Ice won’t begin until you travel to Drake’s Breath on the world map. What follows is a series of main quests that must be completed in sequence, and you might want to complete some side content before you go. You know, buff up a bit?

To that end, there are a few new side quests and hunts you can peruse at this time, both of which can be started in The Hideout:

The side quests Blacksmith’s Blues leads to the "Dozmare" iconDozmare (aka Griffin) hunt. Both of these are worthwhile endeavors at this point in time, although it’s worth noting that they will not expire if you ignore them for now.

You should also check in with "Desiree" iconDesiree and cash in any Renown you may have accumulated - if you’ve been busy you should have 85 Renown, which you can cash in for the “Pillow Talk” reward - a "Berserker Ring" iconBerserker Ring, which is a very handy accessory to have. If you do absolutely everything you can at this point you should end up with 155 Renown, which is enough to collect the “A Swelling Chorus” reward, but this consists of A Rose is a Rose "Orchestrion" iconOrchestrion Roll and an "Empty Shard" iconEmpty Shard, neither of which are immediately useful in combat, so you shouldn’t really feel compelled to overachieve.

When you’re ready to move on with the story, talk to Vivian and Jill, then travel to Drake’s Head.

When you’re ready for a prolonged series of main quests, open the world map and travel to Drake’s Breath to begin the next quest, Fire and Ice.
