The Dying on The Vine side quest in Final Fantasy 16 can be acquired in Lostwing once you reach the Righting Wrongs main quest. Here you’ll find a person named Emile and he’ll request that you eliminate some nearby pests. We’ll take you through the necessary steps to completion and how to defeat the pests.
Speak with Emile to begin this quest.
A field hand at the vineyard in Lostwing turns to Clive to get rid of a monstrous menace. This year’s crop looks to be a particularly fine one, but it can’t be harvested until the plague of pests is dealt with.
How to Start The Dying on The Vine Side Quest¶
Before you can begin the “Dying on The Vine” Side Quest you’ll need to progress through the game until you reach the Hideaway which should take you around 3 hours if you’re starting from the beginning. For those continuing on from the demo, then it should take you an extra hour. From this point, you’ll need to play for a few more hours until you unlock Alliant Reports in the Main Quest Righting Wrongs, then fast travel to 
Lostwing in 
The Holy Empire of Sanbreque and speak with Emile to begin this quest.
Where to Find The Pests¶
You’ll be tasked with eliminating some pests that are making it tricky to harvest the yearly crops, so head southwest of Lostwing until you reach the Gaultamds’s Bales. Here you’ll need to take down multiple Vintner Wasps. However, they’ll be flying which makes it tricky to deal damage, so you’ll want to begin the battle with using 
Garuda’s 
Deadly Embrace Ability to pull them down, then follow up with a strong single target ability such as 
Gouge. Whilst you’re focusing on one of the wasps, be sure to use the 
Aerial Blast Ability to deal AoE (Area of Effect) Damage.

Once you’ve defeated all the enemies you’ll want to explore the field for any chests that may contain crafting materials and accessories, then return to Lostwing and inform Emile to bring the quest to a close. Here you’ll be rewarded with x10 
Sharp Fangs which is a useful crafting material and a 
Black Blood which you simply sell for a nice sum of gil at any shop.
