The second settlement you arrive at in Final Fantasy XVI is the small village of Lostwing. This happens after you complete the main story quest, Fanning Embers. In the seventh main story quest, Louder Than Words, Lostwing seems to be abandoned when you first arrive, and you have to search for signs of life. This can get a bit confusing as the game doesn’t tell you where to go leaving you to wander a little bit. The guide below goes over where to find the missing Lostwing villagers in Final Fantasy XVI.

Where to Find The Missing Lostwing Villagers¶
Once you have fast-traveled to Orabelle Downs, an Obelisk will activate. This is the a fast travel point. You will be able to press on ahead through some farmland. Here you will find some Royal Guards patrolling the area, take them out and keep pushing ahead until you reach the area above Lostwing. A short cutscene will play where you scout the area with Cid from above and learn that the town looks abandoned. You will now split up from Cid, and begin to explore Lostwing. You will want to head to the church on the other side of town. If you can’t find it, then press in the left stick to have Torgal direct you to the right location. Along the way you will hear a crying child, ignore them, harsh as it sounds and head up to the church and walk inside to trigger a cutscene where Cid finds the missing villagers.
- There are also two chests in town, one on the road that runs north of the church on the right side of town, next to a shed this contains 5x Bloody Hides.
- The second chest is behind the tavern and contains Black Blood.
After breaking down the door and speaking with everyone, a guard will come in and then begin to sprint back to the rest of his group. You will need to run behind him as Clive and make your way through the short tunnel into the forest outside.
When you catch up to him, another cutscene will play involving Benedikta, where she summons a wind boss named Chirada. Once you have defeated Chirada, you will be able to move on to the next main quest, The Dead of Night.
