After you finally learn the true identity of The Wounded, in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, you set out to try and get some reinforcements for the impending battle. At the end of The Fatherless Monk, Kyonyo directs you to Mitsumune at Nunobiki Falls. He leads the last survivors of Honganji and have formed an ikki (a revolt against the samurai rule). This page will detail where to find Mitsumune, as well as where to obtain the stolen statue.

You’ll be visiting the northern section of Izumi Settsu for this quest.

Where to Find Mitsumune - Nunobiki Falls Location

In order to find Mitsumune, who is camping at some location called Nunobiki Falls, you’re going to need to head to the northern section of Izumi Settsu. The in-game hints mention him being north of Amagasaki, which is somewhere you might not have been yet. If you follow the coastline north of Sakai, you will eventually reach a big river, which will be northwest of Osaka Castle. Cross this river and you should now be in the northern part of Settsu.

Amagasaki is pretty easy to find, which includes Amagasaki Castle, and just north of the castle is Muko Post Town. Follow the road through there to the west, until you reach a crossroad (Jizo Statue here). At this crossroad, head north and this path will lead you straight to Nunobiki Falls. Note that Mitsumune is at the base of the falls, so avoid going along the upper road. Walk up and speak to him to learn that him and the rest of the monks aren’t really all too ready to sacrifice themselves for the upcoming battle. Plus, he’s unsure that Kyonyo will be all too happy, as he lost the statue of Shinran to some bandits. You offer to bring it back to him.

Shinran Statue Location

To find the statue, you’ll have to journey to the Senri Hills area, which is northeast of Amagasaki. Return to Muko Post Town and take the road east out of there. Keep following the road until it starts to bend to the northeast, then keep a lookout for another road off of there, which takes you to the northwest. Head in this direction and you will eventually see a small town with some enemies, which is Toneyama Post Town. This place is a lot bigger than it looks and there are a lot of bandits, but a good number are spread out, so it’s a lot easier than it seems to take them out.

(1 of 4) Toneyama Post Town is northeast of Amagasaki, in the Senri Hills area.

Use your Eagle Eye to help find and mark the bandits, so you can easily keep track of them all. Stay on the outside of the town while you do this, moving eastward and looking for the blue dot while using Observe, which will be the location of the statue. Carefully sneak your way around (or fight toe-to-toe, if you want), staying in the shadows and killing enemies one-by-one, clearing the way to the building. Once you get there, you should see a large guy with a club, who you can’t really assassinate, so you will need to fight him normally.

(1 of 3) The statue will be guarded by a brute that you can’t assassinate.

Get him away from the small building and into a bigger arena, where you have more room to dodge his unblockable attacks. Timing your dodges at the last second will make him Vulnerable, giving you ample shots to deplete his health bar. With him gone, and hopefully any others that may have tagged along, you are free to loot the statue. Upon doing so, it’s just the matter of bringing it back to Mitsumune to finish up the quest.

If you haven’t completed The Killing Field yet, then go ahead and finish that up now. Should you have done that before this quest, then you can go meet up with Kyonyo to start Heads Will Roll.
