Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a game full of important choices during Naoe and Yasuke’s journey, and early on in the adventure you’ll encounter Yaya, a warrior monk. How you choose your choices during her initial introduction and then, during her ally quest, The Stray Dogs, will impact whether she joins The League as an ally. Keep reading to learn whether you should tell Yaya to forgive Tetsuo or take responsibility.
To recruit Yaya, you must tell her to forgive each other in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The Stray Dogs Yaya and Tetsuo Confrontation¶
After completing the final quest in The Wounded Assassination, you will have had an initial choice with Yaya that mentions it will impact her. If you’ve been paying attention to the scenes that Yaya is involved in, she seems to be all in on the act of forgiveness rather than punishing people.
This will come up again during the start of The Stray Dogs, where you will be able to choose whether she should forgive or punish the Shrine Raider. If your goal is to recruit Yaya as a usable ally, you’ll want to go with forgiving him again. Once you finish The Stray Dogs, you’ll get the final, important choice, that will determine if she will join as an ally.
“You need to forgive each other.”¶
If you’ve been paying attention to Yaya’s story so far, and every choice that you’ve had with her, this should be the obvious play here. Although she may have momentarily forgotten about it, Yaya respects forgiveness beyond anything else, and picking this choice here will convince her to not only forgive Tetsuo, but forgive herself for what happened in the past.
If you’ve been choosing the forgiveness choices for Yaya so far, you’ll get an option at the end of this scene to choose “Let’s work together.”, doing so will have her join as a manageable ally that you can assign from the Dojo (which you can now build back at The Hideout).
If you’ve chosen the forgive option in every Yaya choice, she will accept your invitation to join.
“You need to take responsibility.”¶
If, on the other hand, you go with forcing her to take responsibility for her own actions that led to Tetsuo stealing from her, she’ll be less pleased, but will ultimately accept responsibility for it, even if it goes against her beliefs. At this point, when given the prompt of “Let’s work together.”, she will turn down the invitation to join you as an ally. We’ve not yet determined if you can change the course of this down the line and can recruit Yaya down, so check back later once we confirm this.
