Infiltrating castles and other enemy-controlled areas are a large part of the gameplay loop in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, often rewarding you with plenty of XP, Mastery Points, and of course, Legendary equipment. The objective in each castle is simple, find the Samurai Daisho, take them out, and loot the Legendary chest. This page will cover Osaka Castle in the Izumi Settsu region, so keep reading to learn how to get in and out without the enemy knowing you were even there!

Osaka Castle can be found in the Izumi Settsu region of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Osaka Castle Location

Before you can get the ball rolling, you’ll need to explore the Izumi Settsu region until you can find Osaka Castle. This is a rather easy task, fortunately, as it’s hard to miss it, especially when perched high in the region. Osaka Castle is located directly to the west of the Hideout, just before you get to the river that separates the northern and southern halves of the region.

It should be noted that the entire area around Osaka Castle is very large, offering two enemy camps either side of the castle, situated in the middle of this large land mass. The castle has three Samurai Daisho you’ll need to dispatch before you can get on with opening the Legendary Chest. As an additional bonus, there is a Kano Painting to be found while you’re here, needed for The Art Collector quest.

Osaka Castle can be found near the river that splits the north and south of Izumi Settsu.

Samurai Daisho Location 1

The three Samurai Daisho you must kill for this Castle are situated at the north, west, and east so start your infiltration of Osaka Castle from the southeast of the castle (make sure you have the Ascension Boost skill from the Shinobi tree for Naoe to scale the wall easier). If you use Eagle Vision here, you’ll immediately spot the first Samurai Daisho that patrols here. Crouch on the wall and you should direct his attention to you, then hide and wait for him to come and investigate. Once he turns his back, you can assassinate him and hide his body.

Samurai Daisho Location 2

At this point, sneak along the eastern side of the castle toward the northern side, and look to your left to spot the bell. It’s well worth sabotaging this along the way, just to be safe, and from the perch there, you can leap over to the higher part of the castle around the Tenshu. You’ll see two guards speaking at the top of the stairs here, go to the wall to the left though and climb up toward the Tenshu. There are no guards that patrol here, so you can go north from here and climb the wall of the Tenshu and wait for the second Samurai Daisho to make his patrol around here to assassinate him.

Samurai Daisho Location 3

The third and final Samurai Daisho is located on the west side of the castle, and the easiest way to get over to him is to first head up to the Viewpoint here (if you don’t already have it), and then climb down to the west side of it. More specifically, the Daisho patrols the southwest side of the castle, so make your way toward there and use Eagle Vision to tag him. Conveniently, you’ll notice he’ll walk right past a hay bale, this is perfect for a quick and quiet kill!

Kano Painting Location

Taking out the Samurai Daisho in the southwest last is handy, because it’ll place you close to the building that houses Osaka Castle’s Kano Painting. If you’re still near that hay bale, open up your map and the building to the northeast of your current location is where it can be found (or check our screenshots below). You can get into the building without alerting anyone, then find the Kano Painting in the corner.

Legendary Chest Location - Peasant Clothes

All that remains now is to claim your loot from the Legendary Chest. As with all Castles, the Legendary Chest is housed in the Tenshu (where the Viewpoint sits on top), and, if you’re playing as Naoe and have no interest in the other loot inside, it’s a shockingly simple affair. Make your way over to the Tenshu and begin to scale it, you’ll find an open room right near the very top where you can loot the Legendary Chest with no hassle.

Inside, you’ll obtain the Peasant Clothes Legendary Armor for Naoe along with the Assassination with Attack Engraving. The Light Armor is especially useful for those of you who like to have your footsteps make even less sound when playing as Naoe.
