There are plenty of choices to make in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, some of which can dictate which allies you can get during the game. The Wounded quest, “Heads Will Roll” is one of these choices. Read on to find out the repercussions on the “Justice must be Served” choice at the end of the quest.
Mitsumune will demand that Wada’s men should die, giving you an important choice to make.
Heads will Roll - Kyonyo and Yaya Confrontation¶
At the end of the mission, after you’ve taken out Wada Koretake (The Wounded), Kyonyo and Yaya will have a debate about what to do with the rest of his men. Kyonyo wants to kill them for vengeance, hence the “Justice must be Served” choice. Meanwhile, Yaya doesn’t believe in vengeance and doesn’t want to kill the men as that makes you no better than Oda Nobunaga which leads to the “Killing them isn’t Justice” option. You may notice that when you hover over a choice, you’ll see a popup about it affecting Yaya, and it isn’t lying.
Mitsumune will make Kyonyo and Yaya disagree with what should happen, leaving the choice to you.
Justice must be served¶
Selecting “Justice must be Served” will side with Kyonyo, which will make him happy, and him and his men will slaughter the rest of Wada’s men. This leads to Yaya being unhappy at your decision, and she’ll refuse to help you in the future. You’ll still unlock her under Allies on the Objectives Board, and even get a quest with her, but selecting this option will be strike one against being able to recruit her as an ally later. There are two more choices in Yaya’s ally quest and if you get one more ‘wrong’ you will miss out on her being your ally for the rest of the game.
The best option here is “Killing them isn’t Justice”, especially if you want Yaya as an ally later.
Killing them isn’t Justice¶
On the other hand, selecting “Killing them isn’t Justice” will upset Kyonyo and please Yaya. Considering Kyonyo can’t be an ally, him being unhappy doesn’t matter (although we prefer him), so this is the choice to select. This will be the first step in recruiting Yaya as an ally during her quest you unlock after provided you make the right choices in that too. Read our Yaya Choice Guide to make sure you don’t get this wrong.
In short, you should select the “Killing them isn’t Justice” choice so you can still recruit Yaya as an ally. This allows you to call her to help you in battles later on with the following abilities:
Ability | Rank Unlock | Description |
---|---|---|
Rikishi (Active) | Novice | Yaya joins the fight and performs pushback attacks |
Oshitaoshi (Passive) | Initiate | When joining a fight, Yaya will knock down an enemy |
Inner Strength (Passive) | Veteran | Yaya uses a powerful kick to send enemies flying |
As you can see, allies are pretty powerful, and you’ll want her on your team. That’s it for the Heads will Roll choice. Why not check out our Golden Teppo Choice Guide for more early-game choices?
