At the end of The Tea Ceremony, you finally found out the true culprit behind The Golden Teppo, in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. This will lead to the Defensive Position mission being unlocked, although that depends on the answers provided during the previous quest. If you didn’t kill Wakasa during The Tea Ceremony, then you will have to do this quest, with the sole purpose being to go after here at Osaka Castle. This is a heavily fortified location, so it won’t be too easy to get to her, but she’s going to be a little on the outskirts.
Your goal is to assassinate Wakasa, one of the Onryo who killed your father.
Infiltrating Osaka Castle¶
As already mentioned, Osaka Castle is a bigger challenge, since it’s quite large and there are smaller areas around it that are restricted, so you’ll be contending with a lot of guards that will attack on sight if they see you. It is also home to some good treasure, including a piece of legendary gear, but you should worry about that after the mission. You should just concentrate on going after Wakasa here, which makes things a little easier on you.

For starters, you have to pinpoint the location of Wakasa, although the game kind of gives away a general area. She is found towards the southern end of Osaka Castle, just north of the Upper Construction Site section of the area. There is a large moat around Osaka Castle and you can use that to navigate your way to the section with a building in construction. There are some wooden scaffolding on the side that you can climb, but you’ll need to be extra careful here, as it’s easy to be spotted by enemies below and in the construction area itself.
Of course, you have two ways to go here, although stealth is the much better option. Since Naoe has access to Eagle Eye, use it to mark the locations of all of the enemies inside the structure, as well as in the proximity. Take things slow and try to isolate the enemies, if you can, before you kill them. Start from the bottom, if you can, then work your way up the structure, which is where you will find Wakasa. Once you have her alone, you can finally start fighting her.
(1 of 3) Increasing your assassination damage will help a lot.
Assassinating Wakasa¶
As mentioned above, Wakasa has three health segments, so if you plan on assassinating her, you’ll need the one upgrade from the Assassin skill tree. Otherwise, you’ll only take out two health segments, leaving her with one and have to fight her head-to-head. She can be a little bit tricky to fight head-on, as she’ll stick to combo attacks (blue glints) mostly, so you’ll need to block/parry them all before she becomes vulnerable. She appears to have two basic combos, with four attacks each, but one of them she’ll end with an unblockable attack, meaning you’ll have to dodge it.
If you have the necessary upgrade, though, you can kill her outright without a fight. There should only be one other enemy on the same level as her, if you are coming from the nearby rooftops. You can easily take that enemy out, then sneak up behind her to end her for good. You can also traverse the beams on the upper level, moving over to a spot where you can do a drop-down assassination. Either way, she’s not too challenging of an opponent, if you opt for this route.
(1 of 2) You can use the beams on the top floor to get a good jump on Wakasa.

Defensive Position Rewards¶
With Wakasa dead, you will finally down one of the Onryo and receive some rewards. You will receive the Shinobi’s Fury, a legendary tanto weapon, as well as 2,000 XP and 2 Mastery Points. Additionally, you’ll unlock the Tea Bowls for Rikyu side quest in the Yamashiro region.
