After finally unlocking Yasuke full-time in Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, you will open up some new targets for the main story. In order to actually get to The Naginata, you will first have to do a Yasuke mission called Lady of Whispers. This will give you a lead towards that foe, with Lady Nene offering one of her contacts in Otsu, opening up the quest, An Evening in Otsu.

Where to Find Aoi in Otsu¶
To get started on this quest, you will have to journey to Otsu, a town in the Omi region. This will be very close to the Hills of Meeting sub-region in the Yamashiro region, and if you zoom out a little bit on the map, right next to the Mouth of Seta sub-region. If you’ve visited this area already, then you might have a kakurega or two unlocked here, so just fast travel. Otherwise, it’s not too far from the Gion Kakurega found on the eastern side of Kyoto.
Otsu is split into two sections, a Lower District and an Upper District. You want to go to the Upper District, as that’s where you’ll find Aoi. Specifically, she will be found north of the kakurega there, so that’s where you can look. She’ll be holding an umbrella, so that makes her even easier to spot. Speak to her to learn that a high-ranking member of the Shinbakufu has agreed to a duel on Seta Bridge at night. That bridge is the large, red one to the southeast, so head that way now.

Find a Lead on Seta Bridge¶
As you run across Seta Bridge and use Observe, you will likely notice a blue dot in an area underneath the bridge itself. This will be right where construction on the bridge is happening, and it is there that you should overhear a conversation about the participants of the duel. This knowledge will be useful in a bit, but for now, look off the side of the broken bridge to see some scaffolding. Drop down here and as soon as you do, you should see a letter sitting there, next to a tools-refilling station. Read it to see that the duel is tonight, so your character decides to wait until nightfall.
Watch the scene that follows, where you learn the identity of The Naginata, Akechi Kagemitsu. It appears he’s set up ambush on the old man, so you decide to step in and help out. You’re left alone to deal with the enemies, none of which should really be much of a threat. There will be two waves of foes here, with the first being just melee enemies. Always keep an eye on when someone is about to attack you, so you can block/parry them. When you get to the second wave, you’ll have a ranged unit, so you will want to be careful and keep an eye on the indicator when he’s about to fire at you.

After defeating all of the enemies, Aoi will run up to your position on the bridge, so speak to her to learn where Kagemitsu went. She advises that the castle where he went is heavily fortified, so a head-on approach is not the best. Aoi suggests going after the other duelist, Shotei, who fled to the east, as he will surely know how to sneak into the castle. That brings an end to this quest and will start Against the Koga-ryu.
