You can start this quest one of two ways; talk to an Irritated Researcher in Hjara Station, or simply drive near the source of the interference in the north-center of Voeld. In the former case, after talking to the Irritated Researcher interact with the Console near him to get a lead - and a navpoint.

However you start it, drive over to the resulting navpoint, which is a ways to the east of Hjara Station, northeast of a Remnant site. When you arrive you’ll find what looks like a meteorite, which seems to be the source of the interference. Kill a pack of Wild Adhi that spawn when you get close to the meteorite (scanning them - alive or dead - will count towards completion of the quest “Task: Comparatively Alien).

When the Adhi are gone, scan the meteorite and SAM will again come up with a solution. Begin the slow task of dampening the signal by holding down [Triangle]/[Y], and when more Adhi show up, abandon the task and put them down. You’ll lose your progress, but fear not - the next dampening attempt will go much faster. After you complete your task Jaal - if he’s with you - will tell you about this smoldering hunk of space debris, after which you’ll get the opportunity to decide whether or not to move the rock to the Nexus for further study, or leave the dangerous meteorite behind. For your trouble you’ll earn 270 XP, 29 AVP and +2% Voeld viability.
